Job Description

WANTED! The World's Most Driven Remote Strategy & Operations Generalist

When you apply, please make sure the email subject line is: "Full Name | OS | India | March'26 | LinkedIn"

About Chore

Chore exists to kill admin so founders don't have to Chore No More and build their dreams. We are the end of admin. We are the future. We are the better world for everyone.

Startups run on back-office systems (HR, payroll, compliance, onboarding, documentation, workflows) and when those systems break, the company breaks. We are the operators who keep those systems alive.

We don't believe in support roles. We believe in operators who run the systems that keep companies alive.

We're a remote-first, high-autonomy team that values:

- Ownership over ego - Experimentation over stagnation - Merit over pedigree - Clarity over complexity - Delight over "just good enough"

If you want to work with sharp teammates, solve real operational challenges, and grow faster in 2 years than most do in 5, you'll feel at home here.

The Role

This isn't a typical operations role.

As a Strategy & Operations Generalist at Chore (internally known as the Operations Specialist), you will run the back office for US startup founders keeping their HR, payroll, onboarding, compliance coordination, and recurring workflows running smoothly. You'll be the person they rely on to keep the operational systems that power the business running smoothly.

You'll also own internal strategic initiatives that shape how Chore itself operates; designing systems, documentation, dashboards, and workflows that reduce chaos and scale excellence.

If you love being the person everyone relies on to make the hard things run smoothly, this is your role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Run the client's back office end-to-end.

You own their administrative engine: HR, payroll, onboarding/offboarding, compliance coordination, documentation, recurring workflows, dashboards, and urgent requests.

Success = smooth operations, predictable workflows, early issue detection, clean documentation, and founders who never need to chase updates.

2. Deliver internal strategic initiatives that make Chore stronger.

You lead cross-functional projects: SOPs, systems, dashboards, operational improvements from scoping to execution to delivery.

Success = usable outputs adopted by teams, projects completed with minimal guidance, visible improvement to how Chore runs.

3. Proactively improve processes everywhere.

You fix unclear workflows, rewrite messy documentation, streamline repeatable tasks, and propose smarter approaches - even when it's not assigned.

Success = clearer systems, faster execution, fewer errors, and noticeable reduction in chaos.

4. Communicate with clarity and emotional intelligence.

You provide clean TL;DRs, proactive updates, surfaced risks, and structured communication founders can rely on.

Success = no chasing for updates, early escalation, smooth collaboration, and trust built through clarity.

5. Operate with high ownership and sound judgment.

You self-manage, prioritize well, escalate thoughtfully, and take responsibility for outcomes.

Success = strong execution without reminders, calm handling of urgency, and work that stands on its own.

Who You Are

- High-agency: You see gaps, step in, and take ownership end-to-end - Independent problem solver: You figure things out from first principles and propose solutions, not questions - Exceptional communicator: You write clearly, structure information well, and collaborate smoothly with US founders and teammates - Fast learner: New tools, systems, domains - you pick them up quickly - Calm under pressure: You thrive when trusted with real responsibility

Why This Role Is Special

- You will run real companies behind the scenes. Few roles give you this much impact this early - You get ownership from day one. Not support work - real operational responsibility - You get rare visibility. You'll see how multiple US startups operate behind the scenes - an advantage operators rarely get - You work with sharp, ambitious teammates. People who care deeply about excellence - You will grow faster than you imagined - Start by partnering with a US teammate - Progress to owning your own client portfolio - Lead internal strategic initiatives independently - Join leadership discussions and shape how Chore scales - Explore cross-functional work across ops, product, marketing, and more

We attract people who want to grow faster in 2 years than most do in 5.

Compensation & Logistics

- Compensation: $12,000 USD per year (fixed; we do not believe in negotiating), with quarterly bonuses up to 30%. Compensation is merit-based and increases as you demonstrate ownership, judgment, and impact. As your scope expands, your compensation grows accordingly and significantly - Equity: All team members receive equity; further grants awarded based on performance and tenure. - Benefits: Up to $250/month WFH Stipend + Up to $50/month wellness stipend (eligible after a 60 day trial period) - Location: Remote (India) - Schedule: US business hours (Eastern or Pacific Time). This is mandatory and challenging. If you cannot consistently work EST or PST hours, this role will not be a good fit

Read Before Applying

We believe in being upfront about the hard parts.

- Remote work challenges: You need reliable WiFi, power backup, and a quiet workspace. - US hours are required and demanding. This is not suitable for everyone - High ambiguity: You must create structure, not wait for it - Extreme context-switching: You'll juggle multiple clients, internal stakeholders, and projects simultaneously - Feedback fluency: You must be comfortable giving and receiving feedback up, down, and sideways - High ownership: Minimal hand-holding. You are expected to self-manage - Client-facing pressure: Founders move fast and expect clarity - 60-day fully paid trial period: We only move forward when it's clearly a mutual fit. In your first 60 days, success looks like confidently running core client workflows with minimal oversight and communicating proactively with founders and teammates

If this energizes you, not intimidates you, you're likely a great fit.

Our Values

- Delight All Stakeholders: Make work feel easier, clearer, and more thoughtful for clients, teammates, and yourself - Meritocracy: We reward based on value created - not pedigree or longevity - Experiment & Adapt: Try things, learn fast, and improve continuously - Assume Good Intentions: Take feedback well. Fix things proactively. Be a force multiplier

Final Note

We don't care where you worked or what you studied. We care about what you can do.

If you're hungry, thoughtful, sharp, and excited by hard problems, come help us build the end of admin.
