Job Description
Role Objective :
The Messaging Administrator will be the primary custodian of our enterprise communication ecosystem. You will be responsible for the seamless operation, security, and availability of both on-premises Microsoft Exchange and Exchange Online environments, ensuring high performance for global messaging services.
Technical Core Competencies
1. Exchange & Messaging Ecosystem
Platform Expertise: Advanced administration of Microsoft Exchange Server (ex:2016/2019) and Exchange Online (Microsoft 365).
Need to have good knowledge on AD integration, role-based access controls
Environment Provisioning: Architecting and setting up new messaging environments, including mailbox migrations and tenant-to-tenant transitions.
2. Disaster Recovery & Continuity
High Availability: Deep knowledge of Database Availability Groups (DAG), client access load balancing, and site resilience.
DR Execution: Developing and testing Disaster Recovery playbooks to ensure message durability and rapid restoration of services during outages.
3. Security & Vulnerability Management
Hardening: Proactively applying Security Updates (SUs) and Cumulative Updates (CUs) to address critical vulnerabilities (e.g., Proxy Logon/ProxyShell mitigation).
Protection Services: Configuring and managing Exchange Online Protection (EOP), Microsoft Defender for Office 365, and SPF/DKIM/DMARC records to prevent spoofing and phishing.
4. Capacity & Performance Management
Resource Planning: Performing Capacity Planning for database storage, transaction logs, and hardware resource allocation to prevent service degradation.
Monitoring: Using Exchange Management Shell (PowerShell) and specialized tools to monitor queue health, latency, and transport bottlenecks.
Key Responsibilities
Lifecycle Management: Managing the full lifecycle of mailboxes, distribution groups, public folders, and shared resources.
Operational Reporting: Generating monthly analytical reports on Availability, Change Management, Incident volume, and Problem Management trends.
Automation: Leveraging PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks like bulk provisioning, auditing, and compliance searches (eDiscovery).
Compliance: Ensuring data retention policies and litigation holds are correctly applied per corporate governance requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Experience: 4 years specializing in Microsoft Exchange/M365 administration in an enterprise setting.
Technical Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in PowerShell for messaging automation.
Certifications: (Preferred) Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate or equivalent
