Job Description

Alteryx Designer & Server Admin We are seeking an experienced

Alteryx Designer and Server Specialist

to design, build, deploy, and manage data workflows and automated data pipelines using Alteryx Designer and Alteryx Server. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling end-to-end data preparation, blending, scheduling, and governance to support data analytics and business intelligence initiatives.

️ Key Responsibilities Alteryx Designer – Core Responsibilities Workflow Design & Development Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and modular Alteryx workflows and analytic apps to support data integration, transformation, and reporting needs. Develop reusable macros (standard, batch, iterative) to streamline repetitive tasks and promote workflow efficiency. Implement best practices for workflow architecture, including modular design, parameterization, and error handling. Data Preparation & Transformation Perform complex data blending, cleansing, parsing, and enrichment from multiple sources such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Excel, APIs, and flat files. Apply advanced data transformation techniques including joins, unions, pivots, and aggregations to prepare data for downstream analytics. Leverage Alteryx’s built-in tools for fuzzy matching, regex parsing, and formula-based transformations. Advanced Analytics & Tool Utilization Utilize Alteryx’s predictive analytics tools (e.g., regression, clustering, time series) and spatial analytics tools (e.g., trade area, distance calculations) where applicable. Integrate Python or R scripts within workflows for custom analytics or machine learning models (if applicable). Explore and implement third-party connectors or APIs to extend Alteryx capabilities. Testing, Optimization & Performance Tuning Conduct unit testing and validation of workflows to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Optimize workflows for performance by minimizing memory usage, reducing unnecessary steps, and leveraging in-database processing where possible. Monitor and resolve performance bottlenecks in large or complex workflows. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing Document workflow logic, data sources, assumptions, and business rules in a clear and structured format. Maintain version control and change logs for workflows and macros. Share best practices and mentor junior analysts or team members on Alteryx usage and standards. Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Participate in data discovery sessions to understand business challenges and identify opportunities for automation and data-driven insights. Present workflow outputs and insights in a clear, business-friendly manner.

Alteryx Server – Admin & Deployment Responsibilities Workflow Deployment & Scheduling Publish and schedule Alteryx workflows, analytic apps, and macros to Alteryx Server for automated execution. Configure workflow dependencies, runtime settings, and environment variables to ensure reliable and efficient execution. Manage version control of deployed workflows, ensuring rollback capability and traceability of changes. Job Scheduling & Automation Set up and maintain recurring schedules for workflows based on business needs (e.g., daily, weekly, event-driven). Monitor job queues and execution logs to ensure timely completion and identify potential delays or failures. Implement alerting mechanisms for failed jobs or performance anomalies. Leverage Alteryx Server APIs (Admin, Gallery, and V2 endpoints) for workflow automation, user management, and metadata extraction. Manage and monitor license usage using Alteryx License Server APIs and reporting tools to ensure compliance and optimize allocation. Server Administration & Maintenance Administer the Alteryx Server environment, including configuration of the Controller, Workers, Gallery, and MongoDB. Perform routine server maintenance tasks such as patching, upgrades, and backups in coordination with IT infrastructure teams. Monitor server health, resource utilization (CPU, memory, disk), and scalability to ensure high availability and performance. Security, Access Control & Governance Manage user roles, permissions, and authentication settings using built-in controls or integrations with Active Directory, Okta, or Azure AD. Enforce data governance policies by controlling access to workflows, data sources, and output destinations. Configure and maintain secure connections to data sources using credentials management and encryption best practices. Monitoring, Logging & Troubleshooting Analyze server logs and workflow execution logs to diagnose and resolve errors, performance issues, or failed jobs. Use built-in monitoring tools or third-party solutions to track server metrics and workflow performance over time. Collaborate with developers and analysts to debug and optimize workflows running on the server. Collaboration & Change Management Coordinate with development teams to promote workflows from development to production environments. Implement change management practices including testing, documentation, and approval workflows for production deployments. Maintain a centralized repository of published workflows, documentation, and version history. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing Document server configuration, deployment procedures, and administrative policies. Create and maintain internal knowledge base articles or runbooks for common administrative tasks and troubleshooting scenarios. Train and support end users and analysts on publishing workflows, managing schedules, and interpreting job results.
