Job Description: Head of Logistics & Return Logistics
The
Head of Logistics & Return Logistics
is responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end logistics, warehousing, distribution, and reverse-logistics operations for Mount Everest Beverages Ltd. The role ensures timely and cost-efficient movement of finished goods, raw materials, and returned products, while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and compliance. The position requires strong leadership, strategic planning, vendor management, and expertise in beverage/FMCG logistics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Logistics & Distribution Management
Oversee inbound and outbound logistics for finished beverages across Indore and regional markets.
Create and optimize delivery routes, fleet utilization, and dispatch schedules.
Ensure timely delivery to distributors, retailers, and key accounts.
Manage transportation partners, negotiate contracts, and track freight costs.
2. Warehousing & Inventory Control
Lead warehouse operations including storage, handling, FIFO/FEFO management.
Monitor inventory levels, stock accuracy, space utilization, and shrinkage control.
Implement warehouse automation, SAP/ERP best practices, and process improvements.
3. Return Logistics & Reverse Supply Chain
Manage return logistics of empty bottles, crates, damaged goods, expired stock, and rejected batches.
Develop SOPs for handling returns from distributors or retailers.
Ensure proper segregation, documentation, credit note processing, and disposal.
Coordinate with Quality and Production teams for return inspection and recycling initiatives.
4. Transportation & Fleet Management
Oversee owned/leased fleet, ensure compliance with safety, maintenance, and regulatory norms.
Implement GPS tracking, route planning, and fuel-efficiency programs.
Reduce transportation costs and improve service-level KPIs.
5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage transporters, warehouse service providers, packaging suppliers, and logistics partners.
Negotiate service agreements and monitor vendor performance against SLAs.
Collaborate closely with Sales, Production, Procurement, and Finance teams.
6. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with FSSAI, excise, environmental, and transportation regulations.
Implement workplace safety protocols, documentation, and audits.
7. Cost Efficiency & Performance Management
Prepare logistics budgets and monitor expenditures.
Drive continuous improvement projects (LEAN, Kaizen, 5S).
Track KPIs: OTIF, logistics cost per case, return turnaround time, warehouse productivity, etc.
8. Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop logistics and warehouse teams across locations.
Ensure skill development, performance reviews, and SOP adherence.
Key Skills & Requirements
Education
MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
Bachelorโs degree in engineering, Logistics, or Commerce preferred.
Experience
10โ15+ years
of experience in Logistics/Supply Chain in FMCG/Beverages/Manufacturing.
Strong background in return logistics/reverse supply chain is an added advantage.
Experience with SAP/ERP required.
