Overview
Position summary:
The positions primary responsibilities include to provide both strategic and operational financial leadership to Visy Recycling, ensuring compliance while maintaining strong financial and management reporting processes. This includes but is not limited to business analysis, monthly reporting, mid-month estimate forecasting and annual budget planning.
The role is also required to assist and support the Finance and Operations team, in particular the State Accounting Manager with projects as they arise to achieve continuous improvement and deliver value add to the Visy Recycling division.
Visy Recycling employees a team of 700 over 50 sites across Australia and New Zealand, and generates revenues of $300m AUD.
Key responsibilities
What are the primary responsibilities of the role?
Planning & Reporting Process:
Coordinating and assisting the planning and financial reporting function for Visy Recycling QLD
Coordinate and manage the monthly mid-month estimate ensuring data completeness and integrity as well as ensuring timelines are met
Complete and coordinate all bridging, analysis, explanation and present to State Accounting Manager in the budget review process as well as mid-month estimate, and end of month
Ensure state-level planning processes align with divisional systems and standards
Annual budget and full year forecast activities
Monthly Reporting:
Oversee the end-to-end preparation, maintenance, and delivery of all management reporting requirementsโdaily, weekly, and monthly including but not limited to:
End of month reporting
Inventory reports
Daily production reports
Mid-month estimates
Variance analysis and interpretation of monthly reports for the state
Cost control and monitoring for the individual business areas
Prepare Monthly quarterly and Annual COEX Reports
Accounting Compliance:
Maintain all general ledgers in strict adherence to applicable accounting standards and internal policies
Prepare and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations with accuracy and timeliness
Oversee statutory and financial reporting obligations, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements and Visyโs internal policies
Review and monitor critical financial processes to ensure alignment with Visyโs internal control framework
Conduct weekly payroll data reviews to ensure accurate and transparent reporting of employee and contractors hours including adherence to internal audit policies
General:
Engagement with VR teams to support key analyses such as volumes, sales, capital expenditure, expense control, and other ad hoc reviews
Engagement with finance and IT teams to improve planning and reporting processes and systems
Develop and maintain a strong working relationship within Visy Recycling and other Visy businesses to assist in delivering revenue and profitability targets
Continuous investigation and implementation of projects to improve VRโs Accounting Processes and Controls

Key requirements
Experience and qualifications:
Mandatory (critical for the role):
Tertiary Qualified in Finance / Business or related discipline essential.
CPA/CA qualified or equivalent.
Minimum 5 yearsโ experience working in finance & accounting roles.
Demonstrated experience in planning/reporting processes and systems, in a medium to large organisation.
Microsoft Excel proficiency.
Desirable (preferable for the role):
Experience in manufacturing or corporate environment.
Experience in Recycling business.
Microsoft Access proficiency medium.
Oracle Hyperion Planning proficiency high.
SAP experience.
Skills (technical, business, leadership):
Leadership, business and commercial management skills.
Interpersonal, verbal and written communication
Presentation and report preparation.
