Main Purpose

Unit Lead – Safety & Operational Risk will be responsible for leading the safety, health, environmental, and operational risk management for Clean Energy operations. This role will ensure safe design, execution and operations of Clean Energy activities while maintaining compliance with statutory and internal standards. The incumbent will drive a strong safety culture and implement risk management systems to mitigate process safety, environmental, and operational risks.

Job Accountabilities:

- Lead and implement HSE & Operational Risk strategies for all Clean Energy operations. - Identify and manage safety-critical elements specific to upstream unconventional / mining technologies. - Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP, QRA, and other process safety studies for Clean Energy operations. - Ensure full compliance with DGMS, MoEFCC, CPCB, MoC and other regulatory bodies. - Develop and monitor site safety management plans, emergency response procedures, and operational controls. - Review design and execution plans from a process safety and risk standpoint. - Drive incident investigation and root cause analysis for HSE events; ensure timely reporting and closure of actions with O&M team. - Liaise with government and regulatory authorities for audits, inspections, and permits. - Lead coordination between EPC contractors, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to align on HSE expectations, bridging documents, and safety integration plans. - Drive the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for commissioning, start-up, normal operations, and shut-down phases. - Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental norms. - Support the development of a safety culture that promotes proactive risk identification and ownership at all levels of the organization. - Build safety competency across workforce through training, awareness programs, and behavioral safety initiatives.

Skills Required:

- Strong understanding of upstream Unconventional, subsurface process hazards, and environmental impact controls. - Expertise in Indian mining regulations, safety legislation, and risk management frameworks. - Proven leadership in implementing ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and Process Safety Management systems. - Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Qualification:

Bachelor's or Master’s in Engineering (Mining, Chemical, or Safety) + Diploma in Industrial Safety

Experience:

20+ years in HSE roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position in mining / Oil & gas sector.
