Job Description: Chief Compliance & Corporate Affairs Officer
Location: New Delhi
Reporting to: Managing Director
Objectives of the Role
Safeguard clients regulatory licence, market integrity, and institutional credibility
Anticipate and strategically respond to evolving power market reforms
Strengthen client’s policy positioning and government engagement capability
Embed robust enterprise-wide compliance and governance frameworks
Enhance stakeholder trust across regulators, policymakers, and market participants
Key Responsibilities
Lead overall regulatory and compliance strategy aligned with:
CERC Power Market Regulations
Electricity Act and allied rules
Emerging power market reforms
Anticipate regulatory developments impacting:
Market Coupling
Green Markets (REC, GTAM, Carbon Markets)
Capacity and flexibility markets
Advise the MD & CEO and Board on regulatory risks, structural reforms, and market design evolution.
Drive client’s position papers, consultation responses, and structured policy submissions.
Lead corporate affairs strategy, ensuring structured and sustained engagement with CERC, MOP, CEA, Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL), NLDC, RLDCs, SLDCs and Grid Controller of India.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior policymakers, regulators, and institutional stakeholders.
Represent client in high-level consultations, hearings, policy discussions, and advisory forums.
Strengthen client's institutional positioning and credibility in regulatory and policy corridors.
Provide strategic guidance during sensitive regulatory or policy transitions impacting exchange operations.
Establish and oversee a comprehensive enterprise-wide compliance framework covering:
Exchange licence conditions
Power market regulations
Market surveillance norms
Grid code requirements
Technology and cyber compliance linked to exchange operations
Ensure adherence to all regulatory reporting, disclosures, and audit requirements.
Present periodic compliance and regulatory dashboards to senior leadership and the Board.
Strengthen compliance culture and governance discipline across functions.
Ensure regulatory alignment while enabling innovation and operational scalability.
Collaborate closely with Market Operations, Risk, Technology, and Business teams to embed regulatory readiness early in product or system changes.
Lead regulatory submissions and approvals for:
New market segments and products
Technology or platform changes
Rulebook amendments and procedural changes
Support business growth initiatives through anticipatory regulator engagement and structured advocacy.
Oversee regulatory litigation and proceedings
Coordinate with external legal counsel on strategic regulatory matters.
Build and sustain trusted relationships with:
DISCOMs and State Utilities
Generators and IPPs
Power Traders
Renewable developers
Industrial and open access consumers
Protect and enhance client's market reputation, fairness, and governance credibility.
Act as a senior institutional ambassador reinforcing transparency and market confidence.
Educational Qualifications
B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech in Electrical / Power / Energy Systems or related disciplines
MBA / Postgraduate qualification in Management (Preferred)
Experience Profile
25+ years of experience in the power / energy sector
