Role Summary
The Consolidation Manager / Lead is responsible for
end-to-end planning, execution, and optimization of international shipment consolidation
across
EMEA, APAC, South East Asia, and India . The role focuses on building
cost-efficient, compliant, and scalable consolidation models
to support reliable inbound supply flows.
This position requires strong expertise in
setting up consolidation centres, managing global trade compliance, and ensuring documentation accuracy
across countries with diverse regulatory requirements. The role works in a partner-led environment, collaborating with consolidation partners, first-mile logistics providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, factories, overseas QA agencies, and internal supply chain, compliance, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Cargo Consolidation Planning & Execution
Plan and manage
weekly/monthly consolidation
across sourcing regions including China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, India, and others
Identify opportunities to
combine shipments, maximize FCL/LCL utilization , and reduce freight and handling costs while meeting compliance requirements
Coordinate with vendors to ensure
cargo readiness
aligned to pickup schedules and consolidation cut-offs
Review
packaging, labelling, and carton configurations
to improve consolidation efficiency and compliance
Consolidation Partner & Forwarder Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact for
consolidation partners, first-mile providers, global forwarders, and origin agents
Review and enforce
SOPs, routing guides, SLAs, and cost targets
Monitor shipment execution, vessel/flight schedules, origin handling, and transshipment risks
Ensure timely and accurate
pre-alerts, stuffing reports, VGMs, manifests, and milestone updates
Onboard and scale consolidation partners across sourcing geographies
Global Trade Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
Ensure compliance with
country-specific trade regulations , including HS classification, labelling and fibre content, COO rules, restricted product lists, and import licenses (where applicable)
Maintain working knowledge of regulations across
GCC, ASEAN, EU, India, and North America
Partner with internal
product compliance and business teams
to ensure regulatory readiness prior to shipment
Destination Documentation & Customs Compliance
Ensure completeness and accuracy of
shipping and customs documentation
(CI, PL, COO, test reports, inspection certificates, HS codes, FTA certificates, packing declarations)
Coordinate with destination customs brokers to prevent clearance delays and resolve queries
Maintain
documentation checklists, pre-audit controls, and recordkeeping
to support BOE filing and audits Cost Optimisation & Vendor Performance Management
Evaluate
freight rates, consolidation charges, origin handling costs, and value-added services
Drive cost savings through
better consolidation, mode optimisation (air/sea), error reduction, and partner negotiations
Develop and track
partner scorecards
covering cost, timeliness, documentation accuracy, and service reliability
Internal Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with
Merchandising, Buying, QA, Finance, EXIM, Operations, and Warehousing
teams
Provide visibility on
consolidation status, in-transit shipments, risks, and exceptions
Support PO execution planning, especially during
peak seasons and urgent replenishments
Reporting, Analytics & KRAs
Maintain dashboards tracking
container utilization, cost performance, compliance accuracy, and consolidation cycle times
Report exceptions impacting shipment timelines and inbound performance
Ensure
high compliance accuracy, complete documentation, and timely inwarding
in coordination with SCM teams
Requirements
9–14 years of experience in international logistics, consolidation management, or EXIM operations—preferably in softlines/apparel, footwear, accessories.
Hands-on experience managing cargo flow across China and Southeast Asian sourcing hubs.
Strong understanding of:
Trade compliance across multiple geographies in SEA and GCC
Destination customs processes (India and SEA preferred, but GCC/EU/US exposure is an advantage)
Global forwarding operations, CFS operations, FCL/LCL consolidations
Import documentation and BOE requirements
Experience working with large-scale consolidation partners and freight forwarders.
Prior exposure to retail, apparel manufacturing, or lifestyle categories is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
Global trade compliance & regulatory understanding
HS classification familiarity
Freight procurement & rate negotiation
Strong knowledge of consolidation models (multi-factory, multi-country LCL, buyer’s consolidation)
Documentation expertise (CI, PL, COO, test reports, packing standards, certificates)
Customs compliance & pre-filing audit awareness
Strong Excel/Power BI or logistics tools usage; TMS/WMS experience preferred
