Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Bengaluru for a Network Support Specialist. The Network Support Specialist will oversee network administration, provide technical support, troubleshoot network issues, and ensure robust network security. Responsibilities include managing, monitoring, and maintaining network infrastructure to ensure seamless operations. The candidate will also assist in diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues and contributing to the implementation of network security measures to safeguard data integrity and access.The Network Support Specialist will provide technical support for network-related issues, assist users, and perform routine maintenance tasks. This role requires troubleshooting, monitoring system performance, and collaborating with senior IT staff to resolve complex problems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and a customer-focused mindset in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Network Administration and Networking to manage and maintain the organization's network infrastructure.
- Proficiency in providing Technical Support and Troubleshooting to identify and resolve network-related issues effectively.
- Knowledge and experience in Network Security to protect systems from vulnerabilities and implement necessary security protocols.
- Problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with network diagnostic and monitoring tools is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line support for network connectivity issues, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and configuration problems.
- Monitor network performance using basic tools to detect anomalies (e.g., latency, outages) and escalate unresolved issues.
- Assist in installing and configuring network devices such as switches, routers, and access points under senior team guidance.
- Respond to user inquiries via ticketing systems, email, or phone, offering clear instructions to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine tasks including software updates, patch management, and basic security checks.
- Document incidents, resolutions, and procedures to build a knowledge base for future reference.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate network systems with desktops, servers, and applications.
- Conduct basic network audits and manage inventory to ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Stay updated on common network technologies and participate in training to enhance support capabilities.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 1–3 years of IT support experience, preferably with a focus on networking.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi protocols).
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA preferred.
- Basic knowledge of network security practices (firewalls, antivirus tools).
- Proficiency with support tools (remote desktop software, ticketing systems like ServiceNow, monitoring applications).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, with flexibility for shift work or on-call support.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with helpdesk software and remote support tools.
- Basic understanding of cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and their network configurations.
- Familiarity with compliance standards relevant to IT and finance industries.
