Job Description
The Director – Physical education will lead the planning, development, and implementation of sports programs, physical education, and wellness initiatives across the institution/organization. The role involves managing sports infrastructure, promoting student and staff participation in sports, nurturing athletic talent, and ensuring compliance with national and international sports standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the overall vision, strategy, and policies for the sports department.
- Oversee sports programs, inter-collegiate tournaments, training camps, and physical education curriculum.
- Manage sports facilities, gymnasiums, and grounds, ensuring proper maintenance and utilization.
- Identify, recruit, and mentor talented athletes to represent the institution at various levels.
- Collaborate with coaches, trainers, and faculty to promote a culture of fitness and sportsmanship.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on health, fitness, and sports.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of sports coaches and staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote ethical sports practices.
- Formulate and implement sports and physical education policies as per UGC/AIU norms.
- Identify and groom talented sportspersons to represent the institution at zonal, national, and international levels.
- Liaise with sports councils, federations, and UGC-recognized bodies for collaboration and participation.
- Manage sports budgets, grants, and UGC funding for sports activities.
- Organize and supervise intra-mural, inter-college, and inter-university sports tournaments.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ph.D. Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in sports administration, coaching, or sports management.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale sports events and teams.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of modern training methods, sports technology, and performance analytics.
- Record of having represented the university/college at inter-university / inter-collegiate competitions or the State and/or National championships.
- Knowledge of UGC, AIU, and national sports policies.
