Job Summary

The Assistant Manager – Technical Purchase is responsible for procurement of technical and engineering-related materials required for dairy processing operations. This includes sourcing equipment, spare parts, maintenance items, utilities components, and ensuring timely availability while maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle purchase of technical items, engineering spares, and maintenance materials used in dairy processing plants. Source equipment and parts for pasteurizers, homogenizers, chillers, boilers, compressors, pumps, and packaging machines. Identify reliable vendors and maintain approved supplier lists. Obtain quotations, perform techno-commercial comparisons, and negotiate pricing and delivery. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and technical vendors. Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, cost, and service. Coordinate with vendors for technical clarifications and improvements. Prepare and release purchase orders as per approved procurement procedures. Track order status and ensure on-time delivery of materials. Coordinate with stores and production teams for material requirements. Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to understand technical specifications and requirements. Ensure procurement of correct specifications and standards for dairy plant equipment and spare parts. Monitor procurement costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization. Support annual budgeting for technical purchases and maintenance materials. Coordinate with stores to maintain optimum inventory levels of critical spare parts. Maintain purchase records, vendor documents, and technical specifications. Ensure compliance with internal audit and procurement policies. Ensure purchased materials meet quality, safety, and food industry standards. Support procurement compliance with ISO, FSSAI, and company quality systems.

Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Dairy Engineering / Industrial Engineering MBA or Diploma in Supply Chain / Materials Management (preferred) 5–6 years of experience in technical procurement or engineering purchase Experience in dairy, food processing, or FMCG manufacturing industry preferred Technical procurement knowledge Vendor negotiation and supplier development Understanding of dairy processing equipment Cost analysis and budgeting ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / similar) Strong communication and coordination skills
