Investment Specialist
About the Role
As an Investment Specialist in our Venture Debt Fund, you will play a key role in leading investment evaluation, structuring, execution and portfolio management activities. You will work closely with the Partners and Investment Committee to drive transactions end-to-end while managing portfolio risk and performance.
This role requires strong credit underwriting capability, financial modelling expertise, transaction execution experience and a deep understanding of the venture capital and startup ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Sourcing & Relationship Management
Independently source and evaluate potential investment opportunities within the startup and venture capital ecosystem.
Build and maintain strong relationships with founders, venture capital firms, investment bankers, and ecosystem stakeholders.
Represent the fund at industry events and ecosystem forums.
Due Diligence & Investment Evaluation
Lead comprehensive due diligence on prospective portfolio companies, including:
Financial analysis
Business model assessment
Market evaluation
Risk identification
Prepare detailed investment memorandums and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
Conduct credit underwriting and assess repayment capacity.
Financial Analysis & Structuring
Develop and review advanced financial models to assess:
Cash flows
Creditworthiness
Downside protection
Return metrics
Structure venture debt transactions, including:
Loan terms
Covenants
Security packages
Warrants / equity-linked features (where applicable)
Evaluate debt financing structures and capital stack positioning.
Portfolio Management
Oversee and monitor portfolio company performance, including:
Financial reporting
Covenant compliance
Liquidity tracking
Proactively identify early stress indicators and recommend mitigation strategies.
Work closely with founders and CFOs to ensure financial discipline and transparency.
Risk Assessment & Mitigation
Assess credit, market, and operational risks across transactions.
Develop downside protection strategies and restructuring solutions (if required).
Support recovery processes in stressed scenarios.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare periodic portfolio performance reports for internal review and investor reporting.
Ensure investments comply with regulatory requirements and internal investment policies.
Support fund-level documentation and compliance processes.
Requirements & Qualifications
MBA / Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or CA qualification.
4–8 years of experience in:
Venture Capital
Venture Debt
Private Credit
Investment Banking
Strong financial modelling and credit underwriting skills.
Experience in deal execution and transaction structuring.
Strong understanding of startup ecosystem and venture financing structures.
Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to independently manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
Direct experience in venture debt or structured credit transactions.
Exposure to covenant structuring and security documentation.
Experience presenting to Investment Committees.
Cross-border transaction exposure is a plus.
