Job Description
Purpose of Job:
To ensure strategic and operational procurement of materials, components, and services at optimum cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Responsibilities:
Execute end-to-end procurement activities for Mechanical, Electrical, and BOM-based materials in line with production requirements.
Review material requirements (MRP/BOM) and coordinate with Planning and Production teams for accurate demand requirements.
Float RFQs to approved vendors and conduct techno-commercial evaluations.
Prepare Quotation Evaluation statements (QES) with cost analysis and recommendations for approvals.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions within approved authority limits.
Responsible for conversion of Purchase Request (PR) to Purchase Orders (POs) in ERP system with complete technical and commercial approvals.
Ensure order acknowledgment from suppliers and monitor adherence to agreed delivery timelines.
Coordinate with suppliers for dispatch planning, logistics arrangements, and documentation compliance.
Manage import procurement activities including documentation, Incoterms alignment, and coordination with CHA/logistics partners.
Follow up to ensure 100% material availability to avoid production interruptions & customer dispatch failures.
Coordinate with QA for supplier quality approvals, inspections, and resolution of supplier-related quality issues.
Resolve delivery delays, shortages, and non-conformance issues through structured supplier communication and corrective action follow-ups.
Responsible for managing supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness. Periodically review suppliers.
Maintain accurate procurement records including POs, amendments, invoices, delivery status, and supplier correspondence.
Work closely with Finance to ensure timely vendor payments and reconciliation of accounts.
Participate in cross-functional meetings for project developments, child parts procurement support.
Ensure & maintain proper documentation and records as per ISO / internal audit requirements
Prepare and present periodic MIS reports covering procurement spend, savings, supplier performance, and inventory status.
Qualification, Experience & Required Skills
Education of Btech in Mechanical or equivalent.
Experience: 3-5 years
Purchase Engineer with experience in working in Mechanical manufacturing environment.
Exposure to work in ERP Environment - knowledge of SAP/Oracle
Good Communication Skills
Knowledge on mechanical raw material is must
