Basic Functions:
Nucor Towers & Structures Inc, a division of Nucor, the United States’ largest recycler and largest
manufacturer of steel and steel products, is seeking qualified applicants for estimator positions with senior-level or above expertise at our business unit located in Noida, UP. Duties of the successful candidate include but are not limited to the following:
Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Towers & Structures vision and values
Lead the preparation of bids, ensuring all components are considered and accurately represented
Develop and execute effective costing strategies that align with project requirements and company objectives
Conduct risk analysis on bids to identify potential challenges, develop mitigation strategies, and support informed decision-making
Prepare accurate and timely estimates for fabricated utility poles, steel structures, accessories, and related products for bidding projects
Proactively expand knowledge to take on increasingly complex and varied projects, including large-scale or strategic bids
Independently complete complex project estimates, as determined by the Estimating Lead, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expertise
Actively prioritize workload and communicate capacity and needs effectively to the Estimating Lead
Thoroughly understand and track plan revisions and bid updates, conducting detailed comparisons to previous work for accuracy and identifying scope changes
Communicate clearly, professionally, and strategically with sales teammates, engineering, and production on all aspects of the estimating and bidding process
Provide mentorship and guidance to estimators and junior estimators, fostering their skill development and understanding of NTS estimating processes
Conduct thorough self-reviews to ensure scope, completeness, and accuracy of work
Perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to
demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and
housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Able to communicate in English
5+ years of experience as a structural steel estimator, detailer, or equivalent construction/field experience in structural steel, heavy fabrication, or utility infrastructure industries
Demonstrated ability to read and understand construction type drawings including structural, architectural and civil type drawings.
3+ years experience with Estimating Software (MS PowerApps, Tekla PowerFab, FabTrol, etc.) and material take-offs for fabricated steel structures (plate, pipe, angles, connections, etc.) and associated processes (welding, galvanizing, assembly)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related technical field
Working knowledge of plan takeoff software (i.e. Bluebeam, Construct Connect Takeoff or PlanSwift.)
2+ years experience in the utility structure manufacturing industry
Experience or strong understanding of manufacturing processes for steel fabrication, welding, and hot-dip galvanizing
