Partner with engineering, operations, R&D and finance teams to define technical and commercial requirements for semiconductor equipment procurement.
Identify and evaluate global suppliers for semiconductor assembly, test, and fabrication equipment.
Develop sourcing strategies, including RFQ/RFP processes, supplier benchmarking, and total cost of ownership (TCOO) analysis.
Strategic sourcing ensures that an organization acquires reliable, cost-effective, compliant, and scalable test equipment to support R&D, validation, and production testing
Technical specifications
Bandwidth, accuracy, resolution
Voltage/current ranges
Sampling rate, power rating
Fixture compatibility
Supplier Identification & Evaluation
Identify and evaluate global and local suppliers.
Brand analysis (Keysight, Exis Tech, Nor Tech, Aemulus, Nortech and SRM)
Supplier capability & reliability
Lead time & delivery performance
Global vs. local sourcing options
Service center availability
Supplier financial stability
Customer references and past performance
Technical & Commercial Comparison (Techno-Commercial Evaluation)
Performance metrics
Accuracy and measurement consistency
Compatibility with existing systems
Automation/APIs availability
Supplier & Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key equipment suppliers.
Conduct supplier risk assessments (financial, geopolitical, supply chain resilience).
Work closely with legal and finance teams to ensure compliance with contracts and procurement policies.
Commercial
Equipment cost (CAPEX)
Total cost of ownership (TCO)
Warranty and service cost
Annual maintenance and calibration
Operating cost (energy consumption, spares)
Training cost for team
Project & Delivery Management:
Ensure on-time delivery of equipment to meet ramp-up schedules.
Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, service) and drive continuous improvement.
Resolve commercial disputes and supply chain bottlenecks affecting equipment procurement.
Technical Performance & Capability
Supports required test coverage (parametric, functional, ICT, FCT, RF, power, etc.)
High measurement accuracy, resolution, and repeatability
Ability to handle required device/package types (QFN, BGA, SOP, custom modules)
Multi-site or parallel testing capability (improves throughput)
High-speed digital/analog test capability
Device Handling Capability (for Handlers)
Supports tray, tube, tape‑and‑reel, or bowl feeder based on production needs
Precise pick‑and‑place mechanics
Controlled temperature testing (Hot/Cold – e.g., -40°C to +150°C)
Minimal device damage / ESD-safe handling
High MTBA (Mean Time Between Assist) and low jam rates
Flexible conversion kits for different device sizes
Throughput & Cycle Time
Meets takt time / production output requirements
Fast index time and minimal overhead time
Optimized parallel testing efficiency
High uptime and low maintenance interruptions
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
CAPEX of tester + handler + fixtures + load boards
Cost of consumables (sockets, contactors, kits)
Software licensing fees
Calibration and annual maintenance
Equipment uptime vs operational cost
Trade-off between multi-site capability and cost
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Semiconductor)
Experience:
8-15 years of experience in Semiconductor Industries or supply chain management, preferably in EMS.
