Samtel HAL Display Systems Ltd. (SHDS) is a joint venture between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Samtel Avionics, and was created to address the avionics requirements including Test Benches and Systems for all HAL star platforms - both fixed and rotary wing. The Samtel-HAL JV already enjoys the unique distinction of being the first public-private partnership in defence avionics space in India to indigenously design, qualify and serial produce multifunction displays which are currently flying on Su-30 MKI.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer with 6-8 years of hands-on experience in hardware design and development. The role involves ownership of electronics hardware design for mission-critical applications in defense & aerospace.

Key Responsibilities:

Electronics Hardware Design:

- Analyze product and system-level requirements - Finalize hardware architecture - Select major components and define design approach - Plan power budgeting and distribution - Implement EMI/EMC-compliant design - Perform circuit analysis and simulations - Create detailed schematics and BOM (Bill of Materials) - Conduct obsolescence analysis - Review and comprehend PCB layouts and Gerber files - Perform signal and power integrity analysis - Carry out de-rating analysis - Prepare card/PCB assembly and cable diagrams - Develop card-level and cable-level test procedures - Provide input documentation for thermal analysis - Coordinate PCB fabrication and module/cable assembly - Test electronic modules and cables - Integrate and test engineering prototypes - Incorporate design improvements based on development testing feedback

Technical Skills & Expertise:

- High-speed microprocessors: PowerPC, ARM, Intel - Video and graphics processing - Communication protocols: MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC429, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0/3.0, SATA, CANBus 2.0, PCI/PCIe - Video interfaces: STANAG 3350, RS-343A, DVI, ARINC818 - Analog signal processing - DDR2/DDR3 memory interfaces (with ECC)

Educational Qualifications:

- B.Tech / M.Tech / ME in Electronics & Communication or Telecommunications Engineering
