Main Job Tasks:
Doctor on Duty – Junior (MBBS).
Make a diagnosis based on clinical history, examination and using relevant screening and diagnostic tools
Major work force for implementation of all monitoring and therapeutic decisions laid by Senior Residents / Faculty Members.
Prime responsibility is to monitor and manage all clinical aspects of patient care.
Initiate appropriate pharmacological treatment as well as provide psychoeducation to the patient and caregiver/family as required.
Follow-up the patient at regular intervals to assess the clinical course of the disease, any improvement in symptoms and determine the duration of pharmacotherapy.
Initial assessment of the patient at admission and information to Senior Residents / Faculty Members.
Planning investigations / treatment as per laid down protocols and in discussion with assigned department / assigned unit Senior Residents / Faculty Members / Incharge
Writing all clinical details on files and charting all investigations. Informing all investigations to Senior Residents / Faculty Members and taking remedial decisions accordingly.
Small decisions regarding immediate monitoring and therapy to be taken by them as per their abilities and with help of laid down protocols.
However, Junior Residents are supposed to inform all minor/major monitoring inputs, therapeutic suggestions and remedial actions to Senior Residents / Faculty Members assigned department / assigned unit and / or Senior Residents / Faculty Members /In charge.
All nursing staff, paramedics are supposed to report to them initially in relation to patient care.
In absence of Senior Residents / Faculty Members assigned department / assigned unit (at night) is the designated local administrative leader under supervision of assigned department / assigned unit Senior Residents / Faculty Members.
Informs about the irregularities in clinical, technical, mechanical and administrative areas to assigned department / assigned unit Senior Residents / Faculty Members (if and when noticed).
Fills up all the investigation forms, blood forms and prepares the treatment chart or master chart of assigned department / assigned unit.
To write or type all discharge summary on time regularly.
Performs procedures under guidance / permission from Senior Residents / Faculty Members assigned department / assigned unit / In charge.
Interacts with attendants to inform only the current condition, not to discuss, prognosis, course of disease and plans of management.
Shall accompany very sick patients to other investigative area (Imaging) as and when required
May be called in case of dire emergency to any area of hospital for help / resuscitation
In case if death in assigned department / assigned unit
Declaration to the attendants (preferably close to kin) after properly assessing the patient.
Making a proper note of time of death.
Informing the assigned department / assigned unit Senior Residents / Faculty Members.
Coordinating with the Staff about informing relevant authority of the hospital and also after consultation with the attendants, ensuring that proper arrangements are made about shifting / releasing the body.
Preparing the Death Certificate / MCD Certificate / Death Summary properly.
Properly making documentation of the sequence of events leading to death and also of the measures taken to resuscitate the patient.
Other Roles & Responsibilities:
Adhere to the Institute norms
Ensure active participation for NMC inspection as per norms
Responsible for on-call duties / emergency duties as per need basis
Should be willing to perform duties on a rotation basis as determined and documented in the duty rota.
Comply to the instructions of the senior residents and / or faculty members within the assigned department or unit.
