Job Description - A

ServiceNow ITOM CMDB Architect

is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and IT Operations Management (ITOM) capabilities within the ServiceNow platform. This role ensures accurate configuration data, service mapping, discovery, and integration across enterprise IT environments.

Key Responsibilities 1️⃣ CMDB Strategy & Architecture Design and architect scalable CMDB solutions aligned with business and IT strategy. Define CMDB data model, CI classes, relationships, and governance framework. Establish data standards, naming conventions, and lifecycle processes. Lead CMDB health initiatives (completeness, correctness, compliance).

2️⃣ I TOM Implementation Architect and implement

Discovery ,

Service Mapping , and

Event Management . Configure MID Servers and credential management. Define patterns for cloud, on-prem, and hybrid infrastructure discovery. Integrate ITOM with Incident, Change, Problem, and Asset Management.

3️⃣

Data Governance & Quality Implement CMDB governance policies and auditing mechanisms. Monitor data quality KPIs and drive remediation efforts. Design reconciliation and identification rules. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate CI ownership and accountability.

4️⃣ I ntegration & Automation Architect integrations with monitoring tools, cloud providers, and DevOps pipelines. Develop APIs, import sets, transform maps, and automated workflows. Support CI/CD best practices for ServiceNow platform changes.

5️⃣

Stakeholder Engagement Work with Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, and Application teams. Translate business requirements into technical architecture. Provide leadership, mentorship, and best practice guidance.

Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills 5+ years of hands-on experience with

ServiceNow CMDB & ITOM Strong understanding of: CMDB Data Model & CSDM (Common Service Data Model) Discovery & Service Mapping Event Management & Orchestration Knowledge of: ITIL framework Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) REST/SOAP integrations JavaScript, Glide API Experience with enterprise monitoring tools integration. Certifications (Preferred) ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – ITOM ITIL Foundation (or higher) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) CMDB data accuracy & completeness % Reduction in incident resolution time Successful service mapping coverage Automated discovery coverage across infrastructure Compliance with governance standards Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication & documentation skills Leadership and stakeholder management Ability to work in complex, global environments
