Position Summary – Purpose and Objectives of the Role:
- Integrated Communications Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement
Responsible for planning, development and implementation of integrated communications strategies, activities and campaigns in accordance with EssilorLuxottica’s mission, brand image and business strategies; and building EssilorLuxottica’s reputation as a purpose-driven company through the active engagement of all internal and external corporate stakeholders in the market/region.
- External communication & Public Relations
Helping to promote and protect EssilorLuxottica’s external image and reputation, its mission, strategic pillars, business units and functions, entities and support executive leadership messages.
- Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
Contribute to employee engagement and grow the people & culture agenda in the Group; supporting initiatives that foster a positive corporate culture though both internal and external platforms; Provide guidance and policies for internal communication ie. social media usage by employees.
- Issue/ Crisis Communications Leadership
Facilitate and organize an Issues/Crisis taskforce to manage critical moments to mitigate the potential risk, reduce negative impact and safeguard EssilorLuxottica’s reputation. Ensure positive messages circulated in Media.
- Global-to-Local Alignment & Liaison
Contribute to the global Corporate Communications strategy, build a good internal stakeholder network across the company’s business units and functions and all entities across India in order to efficiently coordinate and relay Corporate Communication messaging and deploy initiatives and tools that help to improve awareness of the company’s mission, support the company’s business goals and protect the company’s brand reputation.
Integrated Communications Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement
- Define, plan and lead the Company’s integrated corporate communications strategy for India, in alignment with global Corporate Communications, covering public relations, corporate branding, digital and social communications.
- Orchestrate major corporate campaigns, events and programs aligned with business priorities and brand strategy (e.g. flagship exhibitions, corporate milestones, product or purpose-led initiatives).
- Ensure consistent articulation of the Company’s corporate narrative, positioning and key messages across all channels and stakeholders.
- Act as a senior communications advisor to leadership, providing strategic counsel on messaging, stakeholder engagement and communications approach in key business moments.
- Act as the brand gatekeeper and strategic communications advisor, safeguarding the integrity and consistent application of the corporate brand.
- Oversee measurement and evaluation of communications effectiveness, including media and PR ROI, and drive continuous improvement in processes and impact.
- Oversee content quality and governance by reviewing, editing and guiding internal teams and external agencies to ensure all communications are on-brand, audience-centric and consistent across channels (media, digital, social, video, print).
External communication & Public Relations
- Lead the external communications and media relations strategy, building and maintaining strong relationships with key business, mainstream and industry media.
- Serve as the principal point of contact for external media, overseeing media engagement, interview management and spokesperson coordination in line with our Group positioning.
- Develop and execute integrated offline and online media relations approaches, leveraging traditional, digital and social media to maximize reach and influence.
- Promote and protect the Company’s corporate image and reputation, including leadership visibility, corporate advocacy topics and purpose-driven initiatives.
- Drive corporate branding and identity governance, including the use of corporate assets, visual identity, messaging and storytelling across external touchpoints.
- Support employer branding objectives in partnership with HR, contributing to talent attraction through compelling corporate and cultural narratives.
- Partner closely with business units & functions including but not limited to Marketing, HR, Medical & Professional Affairs, Brand PR, and India’s EssilorLuxottica OneSight Foundation to ensure alignment and amplification of key messages.
- Encourage and activate impactful, shareable human-interest storytelling to increase awareness of priority topics such as presbyopia, myopia management, uncorrected vision and eye care awareness.
Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
- Lead and execute a comprehensive internal communications strategy for India to ensure consistent, timely and impactful communication across a large, diverse and multi-site organization.
- Drive employee engagement and the people & culture agenda alongside HR by translating global corporate priorities, business strategies and change initiatives into clear, locally relevant narratives for India employees.
- Act as a strategic advisor to regional leadership and HR on internal communications, change management and organizational transformation, supporting key initiatives such as organizational changes, business integration, leadership transitions and major corporate programs.
- Launch and continuously optimize internal communication channels (e.g. employee intranet platform, internal social platforms, corporate newsletters, town halls, leadership messages), ensuring effective reach across various sites including corporate offices, manufacturing sites and other teams.
- Design and deliver major internal communications and campaigns, including town halls, leadership communications, cultural and purpose-driven initiatives, employee engagement programs and crisis or sensitive communications when required.
- Build and manage a strong internal communications network across functions and sites to ensure effective cascading of key messages and feedback loops from employees.
- Define internal communications guidelines and governance, including employee social media usage and internal content standards, to ensure consistency, compliance and alignment with Group policies.
Issue & Crisis Communications Leadership
- Prepare communications statements and Q&As for company executives in crisis situations, in collaboration with Global Corporate Communications, Legal team and crisis taskforce.
- Monitor media on-line/ offline on an on-going basis to adjust communications if necessary.
- Stay close to news on the economy /politics / regulatory context to inform and alert, when necessary. Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting the company, customers and partners to make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategies.
- Direct all activities and communications on behalf of the Regional Management in times of crisis management.
- Direct all activities by external PR agencies, establishments or departments that develop and implement communication strategies and information programs.
Required Knowledge / Experience
[10+ years] of experience in Corporate Communications in multinational and complex organizations with proven track record.
A collaborative leadership style and a proven track record of having built effective relationships with multiple stakeholders and levels on the management team as well as external stakeholder management (Media in particular).
Bachelor degree and above in communications, public relations, journalism or related disciplines.
English (required) and proficiency in any other Indian language (preferred).
