The Technical Services Engineer role at PETRORIIFORM is a full-time, hybrid/on-site position based in Delhi-NCR, India. The role is focused on providing structured technical services, operational support, and troubleshooting assistance to clients across the Oil & Gas, Refinery, and Petrochemical sectors.The Engineer will work closely with refinery operating teams, senior technical specialists, and internal stakeholders to support commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and optimization activities of refinery and petrochemical process units. The role demands a strong foundation in process engineering, refinery operations, and safety practices, along with the ability to operate effectively in site-based and client-facing environments.
Job Description
Provide technical services, troubleshooting, and operational support for refinery and petrochemical process units in compliance with established technical standards and safety requirements.
Assist in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including:
Review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Participation in HAZOP and process safety reviews
Equipment inspections and interlock verification
Support during unit start-up, stabilization, and performance monitoring
Support process unit performance evaluation through analysis of operating data, laboratory results, and test-run outcomes; assist in identifying performance gaps and proposing corrective and optimization measures.
Participate in periodic site visits to assess unit condition, diagnose technical and operational issues, and support implementation of performance improvement initiatives.
Assist in execution and supervision of specialized technical activities, including:
Catalyst unloading and loading
Catalyst sulfiding and regeneration support
Shutdown and start-up assistance
Skimming and other related operational activities
Support delivery of technical training programs for client operating and engineering teams.
Perform process simulations and evaluations using industry-standard tools such as Aspen and PRO-II, under the guidance of senior technical professionals.
Assist in preparation, review, and maintenance of technical service documentation, including service reports, unit-wise technical databases, and technical service agreements.
Coordinate with internal Technical Services teams to support client-specific technical solutions.
Represent PETRORIIFORM during on-site technical discussions, audits, and assignments, including participation in international assignments when required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering
1–4 years of relevant professional experience in:
Petroleum refinery operations
Technical services
Process or operations engineering roles
Sound understanding of refining and petrochemical unit operations, including commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and routine operational support.
Working knowledge of HAZOP methodology, refinery safety practices, and process safety principles.
Exposure to process simulation tools such as Aspen and PRO-II, with the ability to interpret operating and laboratory data.
Familiarity with MS Block units, including:
Naphtha Hydrotreating (NHDT)
Reforming
Isomerization
Gasoline treatment units
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for technical reporting, documentation, and data analysis.
Strong analytical capability with a disciplined, methodical approach to problem-solving.
Willingness to undertake frequent travel and site-based assignments in refinery and petrochemical environments.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and client personnel.
Demonstrated commitment to technical accuracy, operational discipline, and safety compliance.
Interview Process
The interview process is designed to evaluate the candidate’s technical fundamentals, applied problem-solving capability, and suitability for refinery technical services work.
Initial interview stages will focus on real-world refinery scenarios, troubleshooting cases, commissioning/start-up situations, and operational challenges relevant to the role.
Candidates will be assessed on their understanding of refining processes, process safety, plant operations, and analytical reasoning, using practical examples drawn from actual refinery environments.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete a practical assessment or process simulation exercise.
