Job Description
Daemeter is developing an agile, pilotstage impact investment capability focused on small to mediumscale Indonesian enterprises with measurable environmental and social impacts and attractive financial returns, particularly in rural, forestry, agriculture, and green enterprise contexts. Central to this is the combination of capital, incubation, technical assistance, and good governance, recognising that understanding of context and capacity building—not capital alone—are often the key constraints in rural, community‑led enterprises.
Purpose of the Role
The Enterprise Incubation & Impact Investment Specialist will identify, design, support, and manage an incubation pipeline of sustainable ventures aligned with Daemeter’s impact investment thesis. The role focuses on venture readiness, business model development, and investment analysis, bridging technical, financial, and impact perspectives to move projects from concept through incubation to investment readiness, then capital deployment, technical assistance and ongoing mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Screening and Pipeline Development
Source, screen, and prioritise potential investment and incubation opportunities from cooperatives, SMEs, communities, and partner networks.
Apply financial, impact, ESG, and risk screening criteria consistent with the fund’s impact thesis and governance framework.
Maintain and update a live pipeline of incubation and investment opportunities.
Business Analysis and Venture Incubation
Conduct market analysis and valuechain assessment for early‑stage and growth‑stage ventures.
Codevelop business models, financial projections, and scaling strategies for incubated enterprises.
Support founders and community‑based enterprises in strengthening operations, governance, and commercial readiness.
Investment Preparation and Support
Prepare or codevelop investment PINs, termsheets, and due diligence materials covering financial, impact, ESG, and operational dimensions.
Support structuring of flexible investment instruments, including equity, revenue‑share loans, recoverable grants, and blended finance approaches.
Assist with post‑investment monitoring, performance tracking, and adaptive support.
Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate closely with the Fund Management Committee, impact advisors, and governance bodies.
Engage technical assistance providers, Daemeter technical teams, and external partners to support venture incubation and derisking.
Build constructive relationships with founders, cooperatives, communities, and coinvestors.
Impact and Learning
Support implementation of impact measurement frameworks aligned with the internal Theory of Change and recognised standards (e.g. IRIS+, ESG indicators).
Build a team and contribute to internal learning on incubation models, rural enterprise development, and scalable green investment approaches.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
Master’s degree preferred in finance, economics, business, environmental management, international development, or a related field.
Professional Experience
10+ years of experience in green business, enterprise screening, business incubation, and impact or angel investing.
Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, business modelling, financial reporting, and fund management.
Strong understanding of forestry, agriculture, and rural value chains in Indonesia.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including communities, SMEs, investors, and technical partners.
Core Competencies
Strong analytical, valuation and financial modelling skills.
Ability to translate complex technical and social contexts into viable business and investment propositions.
Practical understanding of rural enterprise constraints and execution risk.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Professional fluency in Indonesian; English language skills strongly preferred.
