Teknisi Kapal Fiberglass/Fiberglass Boat Technician/Composite Laminator The Composite Technician is responsible for executing the full composite fabrication process of hull and superstructure components for vessels. This includes

surface preparation ,

gel coat application and fairing ,

lamination , and

vacuum infusion , ensuring the final product meets shipbuilding quality standards and design specifications.

Key Responsibilities 1. Surface Preparation & Gel Coating

Clean, prepare, and wax molds to ensure proper surface finish.

Apply gel coat evenly and consistently on molds according to required thickness and curing standards.

Perform surface fairing, sanding, and finishing to ensure smooth, defect‑free gel coat surfaces.

Inspect coated surfaces for pinholes, air pockets, or uneven application, and repair as necessary.

2. Lamination & Vacuum Infusion

Lay up fiberglass, core materials, and reinforcements according to laminate schedules and engineering drawings.

Prepare and set up vacuum bagging materials including peel ply, flow media, resin lines, and vacuum lines.

Operate and monitor the vacuum infusion process to ensure proper resin flow and cure.

Remove consumables, trim laminates, and perform post‑curing inspections.

Identify and repair defects such as air bubbles, dry areas, or incomplete wet‑out.

3. Finishing

Carry out final fairing, sanding, and preparation of laminates for painting or assembly.

Perform dimensional checks and ensure work complies with maritime standards and specifications.

Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in clean and operational condition.

Ensure all work adheres to safety procedures and quality control protocols.

Qualifications

Minimum High School / Vocational (SMK) or Diploma in Mechanical, Maritime, or related technical fields.

Minimum 1–2 years of hands‑on experience in composite fabrication (lamination, vacuum infusion, or gel coat) in shipbuilding or related industries.

Proficient in working with fiberglass, resin systems, core materials, and composite manufacturing processes.

Familiar with vacuum infusion setup and procedures.

Able to read and interpret technical drawings, laminate schedules, and work instructions.

Good hand skills, attention to detail, and quality‑oriented mindset.

Physically fit and able to work in a shipyard or production environment.

Team player with strong communication and discipline.
