Senior Geologist Development (Direct Contract - Fixed Term Employee)
Role Purpose:
Initiate & deliver proposals. Clearly define well objectives and deliver conceptual well designs, programs and plans that meet them. Align the organization around key objectives and support operational decision making with critical analysis and advice.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Well design & well delivery, geoscience input to key programs that support both conceptual design and execution.
Provide critical development geoscience expertise to support both projects & well proposals through the stage gate process.
Successfully interface and integrate with other subsurface disciplines and take a leading role during execution activities to ensure safe and quality delivery.
Deliver conceptual well designs and proposals, supporting through to end of well delivery.
Support key decisions through providing critical inputs and advice, acting as a key focal point for operational decisions.
Ensure all processes are carried out in line with company policies, procedures and regulations and international standards to ensure a safe working environment.
Immediately report any unsafe conditions or activities, dangerous occurrences or injury in the workplace.
Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
Minimum
bachelor's degree in petroleum
Geoscience/Earth Science disciplines.
Experience:
10+ years
of both project phase & operational experience within the
Upstream oil & gas industry
as a
Geoscientist
Experience of working in
integrated subsurface teams , well planning with a strong operational focus, and initiating/maintaining subsurface models.
Strong field development experience, including
Development Plan
preparation
Experience in resource management from volumetric assessment to
business planning
and
reserves reporting .
Well planning & drilling
experience, having experienced wells through the full life cycle from Model through to End of well report.
Strong interface with drilling department , able to drive well conceptual design from initiation through to detailed design.
Operational experience
through active drilling campaigns, managing stakeholders and acting as a key liaison between field and development teams.
Ability to integrate
with other disciplines (D&C, petrophysics, reservoir engineering, geoscience)
Fluent in
joint venture governance , acting as a key representative to partners
Technical & Management Skills:
Fluent in
industry standard tools , primarily expertise in Petrel & plug-ins.
Good
seismic interpretation skills , horizon & fault picks & property modelling.
Well planning , basis of design & trajectory design, working closely with drilling.
Real time drilling experience, monitoring geo-steering
and tracking wells against prognosis. Make critical decisions for
trajectory adjustment & TD calls.
Own and co-ordinate
operational programs
and
decision trees.
Strong
leadership & team management skills , with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.
Problem-solving and
decision-making abilities
in complex project & operational environments.
Strong commitment in high standard of
health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols
in offshore projects.
Strong
inter-personal ,
communication and presentation skills , able to work in multi-discipline and multi-cultural teams.
Ability mentor and coach junior staff.
