General Manager – Indonesia
to lead our Indonesian operations, drive operational excellence, and support the region’s long-term growth ambitions.
About the Role
As AECI’s management representative in Indonesia, the General Manager will safeguard the Company’s interests, ensure operational and regulatory compliance, and identify opportunities for business development and growth. Working within the Delegated Authority Framework, you will have the autonomy to manage resources, evaluate priorities, and make informed decisions aligned with customer needs and organisational strategy.
You will lead a diverse functional team—including Finance, Manufacturing & Field Operations, Supply Chain, HR, HSET, Key Accounts, and Maintenance—and collaborate closely with global and regional functions such as Supply Chain, S&OP, Sourcing, Engineering, Manufacturing Excellence, and ESG.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of AECI's management and leadership objectives across Indonesia.
Drive long-term growth, financial performance, and operational sustainability.
Manage fixed and variable cost structures, including manpower, manufacturing, and raw materials.
Develop pricing proposals, tender responses, and business cases that meet financial and strategic requirements.
Operational Excellence
Oversee sourcing and supply functions for the Indonesian business.
Implement and maintain systems ensuring compliance with all regulatory and business requirements.
Manage critical business functions including:
Occupational and manufacturing safety
Human resources and labour relations
Operations, manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance
Technical support and supply chain management
Maintain divisional performance in production, inventory, and working capital.
Ensure strong governance compliance across policies, systems, and operational processes.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with Portfolio Management, Global Supply Chain, and Sourcing teams to enhance product quality and availability.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities, customers, and community partners.
Actively promote AECI’s Vision, Mission, and Values across Indonesian operations.
Additional Responsibilities
Undertake any further duties as reasonably assigned by Executive Shared Services, in line with the General Manager role.
Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
9–12 years’ experience across production, manufacturing, sourcing, and supply chain, including at least three years in operational leadership.
Experience within chemical or explosives plant operations.
In-depth knowledge of explosives regulations and associated manufacturing/logistics legislation.
Strong financial modelling and tender development capability.
Proven experience in customer liaison and managing operational performance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly proactive, analytical, and solution-focused.
Strategic and conceptual thinker with strong leadership capability.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
Cultural adaptability and readiness to understand Indonesian local customs, culture, and government processes.
Strong work ethic with a service-oriented, relationship-focused approach.
