Lead Cloud Engineer

For one of my customer we are looking for a Lead Cloud Engineer. Duration: 12 months(renewable) Location: Europe(Portugal preferred) Description: We are seeking a Lead cloud expert to design implement, and support advanced technology solutions in a hybrid environment spanning on-premise data centers and multi-cloud platforms (AWS and Azure). This professional will play a key role in enabling research and laboratory projects across multiple global sites working closely together with the Domain Solutions Architect, ensuring that applications, data flows, and infrastructures meet both scientific and operational requirements. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a collaborative mindset - able to balance innovation with compliance and governance. Since the demand areas and domain partners are spread across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Deliverables: Lead the technical design and deployment of hybrid and multi-cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, on-premise). Act as a global technical reference for R&I laboratory environments, supporting desktops connected to lab instruments and local data centers. Collaborate closely with the Domain Solution Architect to align with enterprise architecture strategies and technology roadmaps. Integrate AI and High Performance Computing (HPC) capabilities into laboratory and research solutions. Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure that all solutions meet security and regulatory compliance standards. Produce, review, and maintain technical documentation, including cybersecurity deliverables and operational procedures. Troubleshoot complex distributed system issues, ensuring stability and high performance. Mentor and support engineering teams, fostering knowledge sharing and adherence to best practices.
