About our Client
Our client is a rapidly scaling technology innovator specializing in Smart Grid and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solutions with a proven track record of empowering utility companies through cutting‑edge digital platforms.
This position is responsible for leading end-to-end solution design and technical strategy for Smart Grid and Utility projects. This role ensures integrated communication, monitoring, automation, and control systems are aligned with customer business objectives, regulatory requirements, and grid modernization initiatives.
The position bridges commercial strategy, system architecture, and operational deployment across generation, transmission, distribution, and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
Responsibilities
End-to-End Smart Grid Architecture
Design integrated Smart Grid solutions covering:
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) ,
Distribution Automation (DA) ,
Substation Automation (SAS) ,
SCADA/DMS/OMS integration ,
DER & Renewable Integration ,
Grid Communication Networks (Fiber, RF Mesh, LTE/Private LTE, Microwave)
Define system architecture from field devices (smart meters, RTUs, IEDs) to control center and enterprise systems.
Ensure cybersecurity, interoperability, and compliance with utility standards.
Communication & Network Strategy
Develop multi-technology communication platforms for:
Field Area Network (FAN) ,
Neighborhood Area Network (NAN) ,
Wide Area Network (WAN)
Perform network dimensioning, bandwidth planning, redundancy design, and SLA assurance.
Evaluate technologies such as LTE/Private LTE, RF Mesh, WiMAX, PtP/PtMP, Fiber Optic backbone.
Ensure high availability and low-latency performance for mission-critical grid operations.
Presales & Proposal Leadership
Lead technical response for RFI/RFP/RFQ in utility and Smart Grid projects.
Own solution documentation: HLD, LLD, BoQ, compliance matrix, technical proposal.
Conduct technical workshops, solution defense sessions, and executive presentations.
Support Proof of Concept (PoC) and pilot deployments.
Commercial & Risk Management
Align technical design with CAPEX/OPEX optimization.
Identify technical risks (coverage gaps, integration challenges, cybersecurity threats).
Support cost modeling and pricing strategy.
Contribute to contract negotiation and technical clarification.
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
Engage with utility stakeholders (technical, regulatory, and executive level).
Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Delivery, and Product teams.
Lead and mentor Presales Engineers and Solution Architects.
Drive best practices in Smart Grid solution development.
Requirements
Bachelors/masters degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
12–18+ years in Smart Grid, Utility, or Telecom infrastructure.
Strong understanding of power systems (Generation–Transmission–Distribution).
Experience in AMI rollouts, distribution automation, or utility communication networks.
Knowledge of grid standards and cybersecurity frameworks.
Proven track record handling large-scale utility tenders.
