Propagation Lead (Coordinator)

The position will lead and oversee the planting establishment and maintenance of clean seed mother plots within the concession area. They are responsible for the subsequent propagations and the local distribution plots used by Agri for planting commercial sugarcane production.

Mother plots and propagation plots are planted using a nucleus of approved varieties that are disease free and true-to-type which comes from tissue culture material, import program varieties or Hot Water Treated planting source material. They will be responsible for planning Hot Water Treatment of appropriate amounts of required varieties.

The position will also plant, harvest and provide agronomic management of field trials conducted by the R&D Division across the area. By understanding the results from field trials and commercial production the incumbent will contribute to planning the future variety mix and the clean seed pipeline to support it.

Responsibilities

Contribute to annual work plans and budget proposals for mother plot management.

Align objectives with R&D goals and field operations.

Ensure that all mother plots and propagation plots are planted using a nucleus of approved varieties that are disease free and true-to-type.

Maintain strict quality-control and plant hygiene measures to protect the disease-free status and variety purity of mother plots from planting to seed harvest.

Long range planning for site selection that ensures new propagation locations at MNM are well drained and fallowed for longer than 6 months with no volunteer cane present.

Manage and maintain propagations and mother plots to a high standard to produce viable and clean seed cane.

Follow nutrient and weed management plans set by management.

Oversee any Hot Water Treatment facility planning, construction and operations planned.

Requirements

Having 5-10 years experience in managing full cycle of plants, starting from planting, maintaining & fertilizing to harvesting, preferably from sugarcane industry.

Bachelor degree from related majors (i.e Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Biology, Plant Protection, etc.)

Ability to communicate in English.
