SPECIALIST – MARINE LIFTING & RIGGING
(National - Site Based)
Working Location: Site Based - West Sumbawa
Working Schedule: 4 Weeks On : 2 Weeks off

Some of your duties will include:
A. Marine Lifting & Rigging Operations
Plan, execute, and supervise lifting operations related to: Cargo loading/unloading (containers, bulk, break-bulk); Mining equipment (HME, processing equipment, spares); Project cargo and heavy lifts (>50 tons); Barge and vessel mobilization lifts
Conduct Lift Studies, including complex and engineered lifts.
Verify Lift Plans, rigging methods, crane load charts, and environmental constraints.
Ensure all rigging activities comply with ASME, LOLER, IMO, ISM, and company standards.
B. Inspection & Certification
Inspect and maintain certification systems for: Wire ropes, shackles, slings, master links, chain blocks; Spreader bars, lifting beams, pad eyes & lifting points; Marine cranes, mobile cranes, hoists, and winches;
Maintain a Rigging Equipment Register and ensure traceability.
C. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and LMRA for lifting operations.
Implement and audit compliance with: Marine lifting SOPs; Port safety requirements; ISO 45001 and IMDG guidelines
Lead incident investigations related to lifting & rigging.
D. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate with Marine operations, port stevedores, vessel crews; Procurement & warehouse teams; Project & construction teams for heavy equipment movement
Review and approve contractor lifting plans and rigging procedures.
E. Technical Training & Competency
Provide training and competency assessment for: Riggers, Crane operators, Banksmen / signalers
Identify improvement opportunities for rigging methods, tools, and equipment reliability.
Support development of lifting standards and procedures.
What skills and experience do you need?
Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marine Operations, Mechanical, or related technical field; Equivalent technical certificates with extensive experience also acceptable.
5–10+ years experience in lifting & rigging, with at least 3 years in a marine or port environment as Specialist Marine – Lifting & Rigging; Experience in mining, oil & gas, or EPC heavy industry is highly preferred.
Have Lifting & Rigging Competency Certification (OPITO Rigging Level ¾, LEEA Certificates, NSL/IRATA Rigging); Crane Operations/Lift Planning certifications (LOLER/ASME); HSE Certification (NEBOSH/IOSH is advantageous); Marine cargo handling or IMDG certification.
Proven experience handling: Heavy lifts (>50 tons), Marine crane operations, Barge or vessel lifting activities
Strong understanding of Crane load charts, Centre‑of‑gravity calculations, Sling angle factor calculations, Rigging gear inspections, Marine operations constraints (tide, swell, vessel stability); Ability to read engineering drawings and lifting plans.
Strong safety leadership; Effective communication with multi‑disciplinary and multicultural teams; Able to work under pressure in 24/7 port operations; Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving
