Job Description
The Merchandise Product Planning Manager is responsible for planning, developing, selecting, and managing product assortments to ensure the right products are available at the right time, quantity, and price. This role drives product strategy, sales performance, inventory health, and cross‑functional alignment across merchandising, marketing, supply chain, and retail operations.
Develop Product & Merchandise Planning Strategy – Build annual and seasonal merchandise plans aligned with business targets, market trends, and consumer demand.
Assortment & Category Planning – Define the product mix, category structure, and SKU strategy for each channel to maximize sales opportunities.
Forecasting & Demand Planning – Lead sales forecasting, demand analysis, and inventory projections to ensure optimal stock levels and product availability.
Product Performance Analysis – Review weekly/monthly sales, sell‑through, and margin performance to recommend actions for replenishment, markdown, or product phase‑out.
Inventory Optimization – Manage stock allocation, replenishment, and inventory flow to minimize overstock and reduce out‑of‑stock risks.
Cross‑Functional Alignment – Collaborate with Merchandising, Chain, Marketing, and Retail Operations to support product launches, campaigns, and buying cycles.
Reporting & Business Insights – Prepare merchandise planning reports, insights, and recommendations for management decision‑making.
