Compliance Director for Indonesia
We’re seeking a
Compliance Director for Indonesia
to provide senior compliance leadership across our Indonesian businesses. This role has two elements: a primary, hands‑on responsibility for leading compliance for our Payment Service Provider (PJP) entity, and also a separate mandate to act as the country‑level functional compliance lead for our P2P and multifinance business Compliance teams.
Based in Jakarta, this role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Bank Indonesia’s PJP requirements, while driving alignment and consistency across entities regulated by Bank Indonesia and OJK. You will personally own and execute the compliance function — acting as the designated compliance lead, accountable for regulatory engagement, AML/KYC oversight, and the development and implementation of compliance frameworks that support responsible growth and the delivery of innovative BNPL and payments services.
Separate from your PJP responsibilities, you will act as a country‑level functional compliance lead, guiding the Compliance Heads of Atome Financial and Kredit Pintar to align regulatory interpretation, strengthen coordination, and support effective regulatory engagement across Indonesia.
This role serves as the key link between all local Atome compliance teams and regional leadership, ensuring that Indonesian regulatory developments and risks are clearly represented, and that group standards are applied consistently.
This position suits an experienced compliance leader who is comfortable personally driving regulatory outcomes, while also leading peers through influence rather than line management in a fast‑moving fintech environment.
You will report functionally to the Head of Compliance for Atome (Regional).
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Risk Management
Act as the designated Person-in-Charge (PIC) for compliance and AML with Bank Indonesia for the PJP entity, with full accountability for regulatory outcomes
Personally lead and execute compliance oversight for QRIS (domestic, cross‑border, and QRIS TUNTAS) and e‑money services, in line with Bank Indonesia regulations
Set country‑level direction and standards for PJP compliance frameworks, policies, and SOPs (including AML/CFT, KYC, outsourcing, consumer protection, and complaints handling)
Ensure data protection and outsourcing frameworks meet Bank Indonesia requirements for data localisation, security, and third‑party integration - working with the Group Data Protection Officer and Regional Compliance where relevant.
Own and drive remediation of material compliance risks for the PJP business, while setting expectations and providing functional direction to P2P and multifinance compliance teams on shared risk themes
Execute PJP compliance work hands‑on, while driving consistency and alignment across Indonesian entities
Regulatory Engagement
Own the relationship with Bank Indonesia (BI) for PJP licensing, regulatory reporting, and supervisory matters, including examinations and follow‑ups
Represent in relevant regulatory and industry forums (e.g. BI, OJK, AFPI, industry associations)
Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with regulators and industry peers, ensuring consistent messaging and credibility across Indonesian businesses
Compliance Business Advisory
Lead compliance input on PJP products, partnerships, and initiatives, ensuring regulatory expectations are addressed early and effectively
Provide country‑level compliance leadership on cross‑entity or group‑wide matters affecting P2P and multifinance businesses
Support Boards of Directors and Commissioners, where relevant, on governance obligations, regulatory submissions, and supervisory interactions
Training & Awareness
Set expectations for compliance culture across the PJP business and broader Indonesian operations
Lead targeted compliance and AML/CFT training for the PJP entity, and promote knowledge‑sharing across P2P and multifinance compliance teams
Regulatory Reporting & Oversight
Own the quality and timeliness of all Bank Indonesia regulatory reporting and compliance returns for the PJP entity
Lead BI examinations and audits for the PJP business, ensuring strong regulatory outcomes
Provide country‑level oversight and coordination for regulatory reviews or inspections that impact multiple Indonesian entities
Track and assess regulatory developments across BI and OJK, setting direction for consistent implementation across businesses
Requirements
Direct experience with Bank Indonesia’s PJP regulatory framework or prior work at a PJP‑licensed institution
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Over 12 years of compliance or regulatory experience within fintech, payments, e‑money, banking, or regulated financial services
Proven experience dealing directly with Bank Indonesia, including PJP licensing, regulatory reporting, or supervisory inspections
Strong working knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, with practical experience acting as or supporting an AML Officer / PIC
Working familiarity with OJK regulations relevant to multifinance, consumer credit, or P2P lending
Demonstrated ability to provide functional oversight and direction to other compliance professionals, even where formal reporting lines do not exist
Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia, with strong working proficiency in English
Strong analytical judgement, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple regulatory priorities in parallel
High integrity, accountability, and the ability to operate effectively both hands‑on and at a senior stakeholder level
Credibility and confidence engaging with senior regulators, Boards, President Directors, and external stakeholders
Jakarta‑based; open to occasional domestic travel
Preferred
Familiarity with OJK consumer finance, multifinance, or P2P lending regulations
Background in fintech, payments, BNPL, or e‑money businesses
Experience setting direction, standards, or frameworks for compliance teams in a growing or multi‑entity environment
Exposure to regional or group compliance structures within a matrix organisation
WHY JOIN US
