Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Offshore High Voltage (HV) Subsea Cable Lay Technician
with strong technical expertise in
umbilical handling, hang-offs, and termination operations . The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting offshore installation campaigns involving high-voltage subsea power cables and umbilicals, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation, deployment, and installation of HV subsea cables and umbilicals during offshore operations.
Conduct cable lay operations, ensuring correct line-out, tension control, and seabed placement in accordance with engineering procedures.
Perform
cable hang-off and termination
activities on offshore structures, platforms, or wind turbine foundations.
Support the integration and testing of termination accessories, pull-in winches, and associated deck equipment.
Inspect and maintain cable-handling equipment, including tensioners, carousels, A-frames, and guide rollers.
Coordinate with bridge, deck, and ROV teams during cable lay operations for accurate route following and touchdown monitoring.
Ensure all cable-handling activities comply with project specifications, QHSE standards, and client requirements.
Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and job safety analyses for all subsea operations.
Maintain accurate operational records, equipment logs, and daily reports for project documentation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in offshore subsea cable-lay operations.
Demonstrated experience with
HV power cables (66kV–245kV)
and
subsea umbilicals .
Proven background in
hang-offs, pull-ins, and cable terminations
on offshore substations or platforms.
Familiarity with deck layout planning, cable management, and marine handling systems.
Certification in
BOSIET / FOET ,
HUET , and
GWO
modules (as applicable).
Strong understanding of electrical safety and mechanical handling procedures.
Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural offshore environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in offshore wind or oil & gas subsea power transmission projects.
Training or certification in
HV jointing and termination .
Physical and Work Requirements
Must be able to work in offshore conditions for extended rotations.
Comfortable operating on dynamic vessels and subsea environments.
Willing to work flexible hours to meet project demands.
