Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Customer Service Officer
to join our team. This role plays a critical part in managing customer interactions, booking, and documentation for international general cargo shipments. You will act as a bridge between our clients, operations teams, and vessel principals to ensure seamless service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers (shippers, consignees, principals) regarding vessel schedules, cargo bookings, cut-offs, and documentation.
Process booking requests, validate cargo details (commodity, volume, weight), and confirm space with principals.
Prepare, review, and manage shipping documentation, including Shipping Instructions (SI), Bills of Lading (BL), Delivery Orders (DO), and cargo manifests.
Coordinate with Operations to monitor vessel readiness, loading plans, and real-time movement updates.
Provide proactive updates to customers on any changes in schedule, delays, or operational issues.
Maintain accurate data in internal systems and reporting tools: daily/weekly shipment status reports, booking reports, documentation records.
Archive all relevant documentation (digital and physical) in an organized and retrievable manner.
Flexibly support other functions (e.g., operations, documentation) when required, beyond typical customer service tasks.
Requirements
Experience: 23 years of proven experience in customer service within a shipping agency or shipping line, specifically handling general cargo on international export-import routes.
Availability: Must be able to join immediately or very soon.
Language Skills:
Fluent in written and spoken English (mandatory).
Mandarin (spoken, written, reading) is highly preferred but not required.
Flexibility: Willingness to perform roles beyond core customer service if needed.
Employment Status: Must be willing to work as an outsourced employee.
Location Requirement: For candidates based in Jabodetabek, must be available for in-person interviews at our Jakarta office (Jl. HR Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta).
