EHS Environmental Manager

PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park, North Maluku
Overview
We are seeking an experienced EHS Environmental Manager to lead and oversee environmental management initiatives at our North Maluku Industrial Park. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in environmental science and engineering, with a proven track record in land reclamation, hydrology, tailings management, and rehabilitation—particularly within the mining industry. You will be responsible for managing complex, large-scale environmental projects, ensuring operational excellence, and strictly adhering to environmental engineering and water management standards.
Key Responsibilities
Rehabilitation & Land Management:
Lead and manage large-scale land reclamation, rehabilitation, and slope protection projects. Develop and implement strategies for soil stabilization, hydroseeding, vegetation planning, and DAS (Drainage Area) rehabilitation.
Hydrology & Water Management:
Design and oversee site-wide hydrological management plans, including surface water drainage, groundwater monitoring, storm water management, and site-wide water balance optimization.
Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Management:
Oversee the environmental compliance and risk management of tailings facilities. Ensure safe disposal practices, monitor for seepage, and implement robust geochemical monitoring and Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) mitigation strategies.
Compliance & Monitoring:
Oversee comprehensive environmental management programs, ensuring strict compliance with local and national environmental regulations. Implement rigorous water quality testing protocols for mine effluent and tailings discharge.
Project Leadership:
Coordinate and supervise multidisciplinary technical teams to achieve project goals, facilitating effective communication between internal departments to ensure seamless project execution.
Sustainability & Best Practices:
Provide technical guidance and strategic direction in environmental best practices. Develop and implement strategies for GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emission reduction and energy efficiency improvements within industrial operations.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related technical field. (A Master's degree is highly preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience in environmental management, hydrology, and land rehabilitation, specifically within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
Technical Expertise (Water & Tailings):
Proven expertise in hydrological modeling, watershed management, and industrial water treatment processes. Extensive hands-on experience with TSF monitoring and geotechnical/geochemical environmental risk assessments.
Technical Expertise (Land):
Demonstrated expertise in soil stabilization, hydroseeding techniques, vegetation planning, DAS rehabilitation, and slope protection.
Leadership:
Proven ability to manage large-scale technical projects, lead diverse multidisciplinary teams, and drive operational results.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Deep and practical understanding of local and national environmental regulations regarding industrial waste, water discharge, and mining reclamation.
Core Skills:
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and internal communication skills.
Language:
Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia; proficiency in Mandarin is considered a strong advantage.
Sustainability:
Proven experience in designing and executing GHG emission reduction strategies and energy efficiency initiatives.
