Cermati, a fintech startup based in Indonesia, is seeking a Head of Legal to drive compliance, manage risk, and support corporate governance.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement legal procedures and policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws.

Identify and manage legal risks, and develop strategies to mitigate potential liabilities.

Provide legal guidance on contracts, regulatory compliance, litigation, employment law, intellectual property, and corporate governance.

Manage litigation issues and represent the company in legal proceedings, working with outside counsel when required.

Advise in structuring, negotiating, and handling corporate actions such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.

Stay up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulations that will impact the organization.

Complete corporate secretarial responsibilities, including Board Meetings, Annual General Meetings, and preparation of notices, agendas, and minutes.

Work closely with the compliance and internal audit team to analyze and implement relevant laws and regulations, providing updated agreements, company regulations, etc.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Law from a reputable university.

10+ years of combined experience as a lawyer in a law firm and as legal counsel in the financial industry.

Solid understanding of regulations in the financial industry (Bank Indonesia, OJK) and implementation in business.

Thrives in a fast‑paced and agile work environment.

Strong work ethic and requires minimal direction.

Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent research, verbal, and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to work well within the legal team and internal/external stakeholders.
