Job Description
About Mazari Group
Mazari Group is a design-led luxury property developer and operator based in Bali. The company develops, designs, builds, and manages boutique villa and hospitality projects, with a focus on long-term asset quality rather than high-volume construction.
Unlike conventional architecture firms or contractors, Mazari is both developer and operator. Projects are conceived with equal attention to guest experience, operational functionality, and long-term real estate value. The architectural team is therefore involved across the entire lifecycle of a project — from land evaluation and concept design through construction and operational use.
Position Overview
The Lead Architect will guide the architectural direction of Mazari’s luxury villa and hospitality developments in Bali.
This is not a conventional project architect role. The position acts as a design leader within a developer — shaping concepts from early site analysis through construction and post-completion operation. The role combines architectural design, spatial strategy, and hospitality thinking.
The successful candidate will be entrusted with meaningful design authorship and direct involvement in development decisions, influencing how projects are positioned in the market and how guests experience each space. The role bridges design, development, and operations while helping shape the evolving architectural identity of Mazari.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Leadership
Lead concept creation, site response, and massing studies for new developments
Develop spatial narratives and guest experience flow (arrival sequence, indoor-outdoor living, privacy zoning)
Define architectural language for each project while maintaining a coherent Mazari design identity
Collaborate with interior designers and landscape designers to create integrated hospitality environments
Participate in site evaluations and land selection discussions
2. Real Estate Development Participation
Contribute to feasibility studies, unit mix planning, and product positioning
Advise management on buildability, construction strategy, and design implications during early project stages
Align design decisions with hospitality performance, operational efficiency, and long-term asset value
3. Technical Coordination & Construction Oversight
Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and consultant coordination (structural, MEP, landscape, interior)
Conduct periodic site visits to ensure design intent is implemented accurately
Resolve technical and design challenges during construction
Review material selections and specifications to maintain quality and durability
4. Regulatory & Compliance
Coordinate with consultants and authorities for planning approvals and permits
Ensure compliance with local regulations, zoning requirements, and environmental considerations
Integrate sustainable design principles appropriate to the local climate and context
5. Brand & Portfolio Development
Help define and maintain Mazari’s architectural language across multiple developments
Ensure consistency of design standards across the villa portfolio
Participate in review of marketing visuals, renders, and project presentations
Present design concepts and updates to management and stakeholders
6. Leadership & Collaboration
Mentor junior architects and coordinate the internal design team
Work closely with construction, project management, and operations teams
Liaise with consultants, suppliers, and contractors where required
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
Professional Experience
Minimum 7+ years post-graduate architectural experience
Demonstrated experience in built projects (villa, hospitality, or luxury residential preferred)
Experience in hospitality architecture, boutique studios, or design-focused practice strongly preferred
Exposure to real estate development or asset-focused design is an advantage
Licensing
STRA / IAI registration preferred
International candidates with equivalent professional experience are encouraged to apply
Technical Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp required
Revit or BIM experience preferred
Strong understanding of construction detailing and materials
Ability to review and coordinate technical drawings across disciplines
Personal Attributes
Strong design sensibility and spatial thinking
Ability to balance aesthetics with practicality and operational needs
Commercial awareness and problem-solving mindset
Leadership and coordination capability
Clear communication and presentation skills
Detail-oriented and organized

Fluent English required; Bahasa Indonesia preferred
Why Join Mazari Group
Mazari offers a different environment from both architecture firms and contractors.
Architects at Mazari are not limited to producing drawings. They participate in shaping real estate projects holistically — from early concept and land analysis through construction and operational use. The role provides direct exposure to how design decisions affect guest experience, financial performance, and long-term asset value.
What makes this role unique:
Meaningful design authorship on real built projects
Involvement in development and feasibility decisions
Direct collaboration with founders and decision-makers
Opportunity to see projects through to completion and operation
Growing pipeline of boutique luxury developments
Ability to build a long-term architectural portfolio within a single platform
Small, collaborative team environment rather than corporate hierarchy
This role is ideal for architects who want to move beyond conventional consulting practice and become involved in shaping real estate developments end-to-end.
