Overview
A regional maritime organization is seeking a
Engineer
to support the technical management, maintenance, and operational reliability of its marine assets. The role will focus on ensuring vessels and related marine equipment operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with international maritime standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with vessel crews, shipyards, and third-party service providers to manage maintenance programs, support dry-docking activities, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Management
Provide engineering and technical support for vessel operations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Monitor the condition and performance of key shipboard machinery and equipment.
Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and implementing corrective actions.
Maintenance & Repair
Support the planning and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities for marine engines, auxiliary systems, and onboard equipment.
Coordinate repairs with shipyards, vendors, and service providers.
Monitor maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of work.
Dry Docking & Projects
Assist in planning and executing vessel dry-docking and major repair projects.
Review technical specifications, repair scopes, and contractor proposals.
Supervise shipyard activities to ensure work quality and compliance with project requirements.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure vessels comply with relevant
flag state regulations, classification society requirements, and international maritime standards .
Support inspections, audits, and surveys conducted by regulatory bodies or classification societies.
Promote adherence to safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate technical records, maintenance logs, and equipment documentation.
Prepare technical reports related to vessel performance, repairs, and operational improvements.
Support budgeting and cost tracking for technical operations and maintenance activities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in
Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline .
3–8 years of experience
in maritime, shipping, shipyard, or offshore vessel operations.
Familiarity with
marine engines, propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and vessel maintenance practices .
Knowledge of international maritime regulations and classification requirements is an advantage.
Strong coordination skills when working with vessel crews, contractors, and shipyards.
Willingness to travel to ports, shipyards, or vessel locations when required.
