Computer vision focused-AI engineer

The Center for Digital Innovation Study (DIGITS), FEB Unpad, is seeking one (1) contract-based AI Engineer with a focus on Computer Vision to support research-to-production AI development initiatives.

This is a full-time contract engagement (4–10 months) based on project needs.

Work Location This position is on-site in Bandung (Unpad Bandung/Jatinangor campus).

Candidates must be able to work from Bandung during the contract period and have legal authorization to work in Indonesia.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Information Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or other related fields

Strong hands‑on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow for model training and fine‑tuning

Solid background in computer vision, including:

Image classification

OpenCV

Experience with model optimization techniques (quantization, pruning, knowledge distillation)

Experience with Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) pipelines

Familiarity with mobile development (Android/iOS) and SDK integration

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders

Self‑driven and comfortable working in an agile research environment

Key Responsibilities

Design, train, and optimize image recognition and object detection models

Transform research prototypes into production‑ready solutions

Optimize models for mobile deployment (speed, size, accuracy, offline performance)

Build and maintain model evaluation and validation pipelines

Collaborate with mobile engineers on SDK integration and on‑device inference tuning

Curate and manage training datasets

Continuously experiment, iterate, and improve model performance
