SEO consultant for Digital EMEA department of a global pharma player
Role overview
The EMEA SEO Consultant is responsible for driving the adoption, implementation, and continuous improvement of SEO across several digital platforms. This role focuses on
SEO governance ,
roadmap execution ,
cross‑functional collaboration , and
enabling business teams with the right tools, training , and guidance to
ensure compliance with SEO best practices .
Unlike traditional SEO roles centered on audits and content optimization, this position emphasizes program management, technical coordination, stakeholder alignment, and scalable SEO enablement across multiple markets.
The role requires a high level of autonomy, with the consultant independently managing the SEO program, prioritizing initiatives, and adapting quickly to evolving business needs with minimal supervision.
Key responsibilities:
SEO program & roadmap ownership
Execute the existing global SEO roadmap and oversee timely delivery of planned initiatives.
Continuously enhance current SEO features and processes based on market feedback and evolving best practices.
Develop new roadmap items aligned with business needs, platform capabilities, and global SEO standards.
Stakeholder management & cross‑functional collaboration:
Work closely with multiple stakeholders across regions and seniority levels to understand business priorities and translate them into SEO requirements.
Act as the SEO liaison between digital leaders, product owners, marketing teams, and non‑SEO stakeholders.
Communicate SEO recommendations in business‑friendly language for non‑technical audiences.
Technical collaboration & implementation:
Partner with development and technical teams to refine requirements, integrate SEO improvements into sprint cycles, and support correct implementation.
Translate SEO needs into clear technical specifications that developers can easily execute.
Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and review ceremonies when relevant.
Quality assurance & testing:
Conduct UAT and QA testing for SEO‑related releases to ensure correct deployment across platforms and markets.
Training & enablement:
Develop and deliver tailored SEO training sessions for digital teams.
Support teams across EMEA with guidance on SEO governance and scalable implementation.
Monitoring, insights & continuous improvement:
Identify opportunities for incremental SEO improvements based on insights, platform capabilities, and market feedback.
Collaborate with analytics and platform teams to ensure accurate tracking and SEO‑relevant reporting.
Qualifications & experience:
Required
Proven experience in SEO with
strong
understanding of technical SEO foundations.
Demonstrated ability to manage SEO initiatives across large, complex organizational structures.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate SEO concepts for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Experience collaborating with developers, product teams, or working within Agile environments.
Strong organizational and program‑management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Experience in UAT/QA or validating user stories and technical releases
High degree of autonomy with the ability to independently drive SEO initiatives end‑to‑end
Flexibility and adaptability when managing shifting priorities, business needs, and multi‑market requirements
Nice-to-haves
Experience working in highly regulated industries (healthcare, telco, finance, pharma, etc.).
Familiarity with enterprise‑level CMS platforms.
Understanding governance models and scalable SEO frameworks for multi‑market ecosystems.
Understanding Jira workflows and Confluence documentation (tickets, priorities, dependencies, follow-through) is a plus
Being familiar with Content Stack CMS
Experience with Ahrefs is valuable
