Role Overview
The Technical Sales Manager – NGS will be responsible for driving
business development, sales support, and customer success
for my client’s NGS portfolio. The role requires strong
technical expertise in NGS technologies
combined with commercial acumen to support direct sales, distributors, and strategic partnerships.
You will act as a trusted technical and commercial advisor to customers across
genomics, clinical research, diagnostics, and biotechnology , while supporting market expansion, distributor performance, and scientific collaborations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Sales Support
Identify and develop new sales opportunities across APAC for NGS products and services
Lead techno-commercial discussions with academic, clinical, biotech, and diagnostic customers
Deliver technical sales presentations, product demonstrations, and customer meetings
Support preparation of tailored techno-commercial proposals (technical specs, pricing, timelines)
Act as the technical expert during the sales cycle, addressing customer queries and objections
2. Pre- & Post-Sales Technical Support
Provide pre-sales technical guidance on NGS workflows, applications, experimental design, and data analysis
Support post-sales activities including installation assistance, troubleshooting, and onboarding
Deliver customer training (remote and on-site) on NGS platforms, reagents, and software
Ensure high customer satisfaction and successful long-term adoption of solutions
3. Distributor Management
Identify, onboard, and train regional distributors
Monitor distributor performance against commercial targets
Support incentive programs and distributor motivation
Coordinate logistics, supply chain, and contractual frameworks
Gather market feedback and adapt go-to-market strategies
Manage distributor transition or exit strategies where required
4. Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Engagement
Identify and engage relevant KOLs aligned with my client’s scientific and commercial strategy
Build collaborations through:
Product evaluations and reviews
Sponsored scientific content
Webinars, workshops, and events
Long-term brand ambassadorships
Ensure authenticity and scientific credibility in all KOL engagements
Measure success through engagement metrics, adoption, ROI, and brand impact
5. Internal Collaboration
Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Product Management, and Technical Support
Provide structured customer feedback to support product improvement and innovation
Support development of sales collateral, marketing materials, and technical documentation
Enable sales teams through technical training and knowledge sharing
6. Scientific Collaboration & Publications
Support scientific engagement with healthcare providers and research partners
Collaborate on study design, implementation, and interpretation of results
Enable data-sharing initiatives and contribute to publication-related activities where appropriate
7. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and technical support using CRM tools
Provide regular reports on sales progress, market trends, and customer feedback to management
Key Skills & Competencies
NGS Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of NGS platforms and workflows (Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, PacBio), sequencing methods, and bioinformatics applications
Commercial Acumen:
Proven ability to develop techno-commercial solutions, pricing strategies, and proposals
Customer-Centric Mindset:
Ability to build trusted, long-term customer relationships
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written English; additional European languages (German, French, Spanish) advantageous
Problem Solving:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
Collaboration:
Ability to work effectively across technical and commercial teams
Project Management:
Ability to manage multiple customers and projects concurrently
Travel Flexibility:
Willingness to travel extensively across Europe/APAC
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
MSc or PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or related field
Experience:
3–5 years in a techno-commercial, sales engineering, or business development role within life sciences or genomics
Hands-on experience with NGS technologies and customer-facing roles
Languages:
Fluent English required
