Job Summary Functions as the leader of the property’s sales department for properties with bookings of 60 rooms and significant local catering revenue. Manages the property's reactive and proactive sales efforts, oversees day‑to‑day leadership to sales associates, and is ultimately responsible for achieving booking goals and revenue targets. Implements the brand’s service strategy, focuses on long‑term, value‑based customer relationships, evaluates participation in sales channels, manages marketing budgets, and collaborates with regional marketing communications to drive property‑specific campaigns.

Candidate Profile Education and Experience

2‑year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related field plus 4 years of experience in sales and marketing.

4‑year bachelor’s degree in the same fields plus 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

4‑year college degree.

Demonstrated supervisory skills.

Experience in lodging sales.

Progressive career growth and a record of exceptional performance in the hotel industry.

Core Work Activities – Managing Sales Activities

Develops a strategic account plan for market demand generators.

Manages reactive and proactive sales efforts.

Determines and develops marketing communications with Regional Marketing Communications.

Provides customer intelligence to adjust sales strategy to meet expectations.

Reviews STAR reports, competitive shopping reports, and other resources to maintain market awareness.

Researches competitor sales strategies to grow occupancy and RevPAR.

Attends sales strategy meetings and contributes input.

Suggests innovative marketing ideas and deployment strategies.

Supports participation in Area Sales, Group Sales, and other channels.

Serves as sales contact for the property leadership team.

Acts as customer advocate and authority on sales processes and contracts.

Co‑ordinates crisis communications and daily service basics of the brand.

Ensures seamless turnover from sales to operations and back.

Monitors resolution of guest issues arising from sales processes.

Maintains performance through revenue growth and cost control.

Implements the brand’s service strategy across all sales activities.

Pulls through regional and national promotions with marketing communications.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Develops partnerships with local organizations to increase brand awareness.

Manages key stakeholder relationships internally.

Enhances community and public relations via local, regional, and national events.

Executes exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty.

Builds loyalty by anticipating and exceeding customer needs.

Gains understanding of the hotel’s target customer and delivers tailored solutions.

Core Work Activities – Leadership

Leads the sales department for properties with over 300 peak rooms.

Develops sales goals and aligns them with brand strategy.

Coaches revenue‑generating department leaders.

Ensures Sales team leverages MI demand engines fully.

Collaborates with HR, Engineering and Loss Prevention for compliance.

Attracts, develops and retains talent to meet strategic priorities.

Designs effective structures, processes and performance management systems.

Sets goals, aligns performance and saves resources.

Forecasts talent needs and manages acquisition strategy with HR.

Supports training and knowledge transfer for sales associates.

Transfers functionality knowledge to other discipline managers.

Provides day‑to‑day leadership to achieve sales objectives.

Develops strong relationships with sales channels and marketing.

Manages marketing budget for property‑specific campaigns.
