About the Team
The E-commerce Legal team aims to provide excellent stakeholder service and achieve pragmatic solutions for the Tokopedia and TikTok Shop e-commerce teams while mitigating legal risk for the business. The team is based across several different countries.
You will have experience advising digital platforms, in particular e-commerce platforms and online marketplaces, understanding how the law is developing to regulate them, and have the versatility to advise across a broad range of commercial workstreams. You will support a diverse range of initiatives across cross-functional and multi-jurisdictional teams to support the Tokopedia and TikTok Shop e-commerce teams.

Your role will be based in Jakarta.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Support the business in understanding and complying with legal and regulatory requirements when launching e-commerce related products and features in Indonesia
- Provide expert advice on a wide range of e-commerce legal matters with a focus on consumer protection, platform liability, B2B/B2C engagement, advertising, influencer marketing, and intellectual property in Indonesia
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements—across e-commerce, logistics, retail, creative, and advertising industries
- Partner closely with local and international stakeholders in legal, privacy, and public policy, to deliver projects against short timeframes, setting appropriate priorities and managing legal risk
- Review and implement consumer disclosures, policies, and terms and conditions applicable to our users/customers/partners.
- Track, monitor and advise on legal and regulatory developments impacting the company's e-commerce
- Engage, instruct, and manage external counsel as necessary
- As needed, help develop and deliver internal policies, documentations, and training to support compliance and risk management process
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification(s):
- Bachelor of Laws' degree and licensed to practice law in Indonesia
- Substantial post qualification legal experience, ideally with experience in both law firm and in-house legal counsel roles, including exposure to e-commerce or technology.
- Experience and knowledge of platform liability, intellectual property, consumer protection, regulatory and compliance schemes applicable to new technology, e-commerce, and logistics products and customer/third party agreements
- Solid experience in drafting and negotiation of agreements across e-commerce, logistics, retail, creative, and/or advertising industries
- Strong collaboration, documentation, presentation, and communication skills
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and skilled at handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communications skills and professional fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English as this role will require drafting legal documents and engaging with internal stakeholders & external clients in both languages
Preferred Qualification(s):
- Deep understanding of and familiarity with laws relevant to platform providers, E-Commerce platforms and logistics platforms in Indonesia
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in an international team
