This role is part of a
confidential expansion initiative
within a fast-growing FMCG group operating in the personal care and beauty segment. As the business continues to strengthen its on-ground execution and retail presence, the organization is building a dedicated operations leadership layer to drive
sell-out performance, operational consistency, and brand excellence
at the area level.
The working environment is dynamic and execution-focused, requiring strong leadership, structured coordination, and the ability to manage multi-location operations effectively.
Role Summary
The
Area Operation Manager
is responsible for overseeing end-to-end field operations within the assigned area, with a strong focus on
sell-out performance, team productivity, and in-store execution & out of store activation . This role leads frontliner teams and works closely with distributors, agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and strong brand representation across retail channels.
The position combines
strategic planning
with
hands-on execution , ensuring commercial objectives are translated into effective on-ground actions.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Team Leadership
Lead and manage field execution teams, including
Beauty Advisors, SPG, Merchandisers, and Team Leaders , to ensure consistent performance and achievement of sell-out targets.
Set clear execution priorities and provide ongoing coaching to improve productivity and sales effectiveness.
Ensure operational discipline and alignment across all assigned outlets and activation locations.
Sales Execution & Area Performance
Own and drive
sell-out targets
within the assigned area.
Develop and implement area-level initiatives to increase sales, improve conversion, and enhance outlet productivity.
Monitor sales performance regularly and take corrective actions when needed.
Market & Channel Execution
Conduct ongoing
market and competitor monitoring
to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Translate insights into practical execution strategies tailored to different store formats and channels.
Execute channel strategies across
General Trade, Modern Trade, and Local Modern Trade .
In-Store & Out-of-Store Activation (BTL)
Plan, execute, and monitor
in-store activations , ensuring alignment with brand guidelines, promotional objectives, and sales targets.
Manage
out-of-store activations , including
BTL activities, mall-to-mall events, pop-up booths
to drive brand awareness and sell-out performance.
Coordinate with activation agencies, event partners, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery of activation programs.
Monitor activation effectiveness by tracking traffic, conversion, and sales results, and recommend improvements for future activities.
Ensure proper deployment, performance, and discipline of frontliner teams during activation periods.
In-Store Visibility Excellence & Store Owner Negotiation
Drive
optimal product visibility
across outlets, including
eye-level placement, gondola positioning, end-cap, cashier area, and high-traffic zones
to maximize shopper conversion.
Negotiate with
store owners and store PICs
to secure strategic display locations in line with brand priorities and commercial agreements.
Ensure visibility execution aligns with agreed trade terms, promotional programs, and activation plans.
Identify store-specific opportunities to improve
shelf share, facing, and display dominance
versus competitors.
Manage trade-offs and negotiations effectively by balancing
commercial objectives, store constraints, and long-term partnership value .
Monitor and evaluate in-store visibility performance, taking corrective actions when execution does not meet agreed standards.
Collaborate with distributors, merchandisers, and field teams to ensure visibility agreements are executed consistently and sustainably.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
Build and maintain effective working relationships with
distributors, agencies, and retail partners .
Coordinate closely with internal teams to ensure smooth execution, product availability, and operational support.
Explore collaboration opportunities with external partners to maximize sales impact and operational efficiency.
Operations & Budget Control
Oversee day-to-day operational activities to ensure efficiency and compliance with internal standards.
Manage
area-level operational and activation budgets
responsibly to support growth while maintaining cost control.
Ensure reporting accuracy and timely updates on sales, activation performance, and operational results.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
Minimum
3 years of experience
in an Area Operations, Field Operations, or Commercial Execution role within the FMCG industry.
Background in
Personal Care, Skincare, or Beauty
categories is a strong advantage.
Strong understanding of retail execution and channel dynamics.
Established network and experience across
GT, MT, and Local Modern Trade , particularly within the assigned area.
Proven leadership capability in managing frontliner and field teams.
Strong communication, coordination, and presentation skills.
Results-oriented, resilient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Fluent in
English
(written and spoken).
Willing to be based in the assigned area and travel as required.
