Job Description
Account Executive / Senior Account Executive
To independently manage full set or major portions of accounts, support project accounting and cost control, and ensure timely financial reporting and statutory compliance within a
construction/project-based environment .
Key Responsibilities
1. Full Set of Accounts / Core Accounting
Handle
full set of accounts
or major accounting functions including AP, AR, GL.
Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and month-end closing.
Maintain accurate general ledger and supporting schedules.
2. Project Accounting & Cost Control
Monitor
project costs , cost allocation, and cost codes.
Track subcontractor payments, materials costs, labour charges, and overheads.
Assist in project cost analysis, profitability tracking, and variance analysis.
Support
budget vs actual
monitoring for projects.
3. Accounts Payable & Subcontractor Management
Review and verify subcontractor progress claims, retention, and variation orders.
Ensure payments are supported by approved documents (PO, subcontract, certification).
Monitor payment ageing and cash flow impact.
4. Accounts Receivable & Billing
Prepare and review
progress billings , tax invoices, and debit/credit notes.
Monitor collections, retention sums, and outstanding balances.
Coordinate with project and commercial teams on billing matters.
5. Statutory, Tax & Audit Support
Ensure compliance with
SST, withholding tax, and statutory deductions .
Prepare schedules for audit and liaise with auditors and tax agents.
Assist in tax computation and statutory reporting.
6. Reporting & Management Support
Prepare monthly management reports and financial schedules.
Support Finance Manager in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
Provide financial insights to support management decisions.
7. Team Support & Process Improvement
Guide and review work of junior accounts staff.
Improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation.
Assist in system implementation or improvement where required.
Requirements
Education
Diploma / Bachelorโs Degree in
Accounting, Finance , or related field.
Experience
Minimum
3โ8 years of accounting experience .
Strong experience in construction / engineering / project-based industry is preferred .
Experience handling
full set of accounts and project costing
is an advantage.
Mandarin-speaking candidates are preferred, as the role requires regular liaison with China counterparts.
Solid accounting knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Good understanding of
construction financial workflows
(progress claims, retention, VO).
Able to work independently and meet tight reporting deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems.
