Job Description

Water Program Lead, Food Land and Water Program Hybrid position requiring 8 days per month in the office. Based in WRI Indonesia, Jakarta. Existing work authorization required at the time of application; WRI does not sponsor visas.

Program Overview Food, Land, and Water (FLW) works to reverse and halt tropical forest loss, achieve net‑sink emissions from the AFOLU sector by 2030, support local economies, improve livelihoods for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, catalyze high‑quality nature‑based solutions (NbS) projects, mainstream sustainable food, and promote prudent water use and control of consumption, supported by NbS‑related water bonds.

Job Highlight The Water Program Lead reports to the FLW Director at WRI Indonesia and independently oversees complex tasks, resolves challenges, and coordinates across stakeholders. The role ensures the NbS program aligns with WRI’s mission and compliance standards, making decisions within pre‑determined approaches and tracking information for new decisions. The lead will manage multiple projects, balancing priorities and driving efficiency while meeting deliverables on time and within budget.

What You Will Do Program / Project Management (30%)

Provide leadership to the project team under the Water Security Sub‑Cluster, including planning, budgeting, implementation monitoring, reporting, closure, and best practices.

Develop a detailed implementation plan for the Sub‑Cluster in coordination with the FLW Director and relevant senior managers.

Monitor budget spending to ensure efficient use of funding.

Prepare internal documentation for project implementation following WRI Indonesia policies and regulations.

Conduct staff planning and provide direction to ensure timely delivery.

Coordinate data collection and develop project reports for monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting.

Apply productivity tools for project management, collaboration, and financial tracking (MS Office, Salesforce, TM1).

Apply WRI’s PMEL standards and M&E system (DevResults) with support of the PMEL team.

Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement (30%)

Develop stakeholder engagement strategy in coordination with the FLW Director.

Lead execution of engagement and partnership strategy with national and local government, NGOs, and private sector partners.

Develop outreach materials, training modules, and general outreach and capacity‑building as needed.

Represent WRI Indonesia at relevant national and international events.

Lead development and implementation of WRI Indonesia water outreach and engagement strategy.

Contribute to blog posts and briefs, conduct media interviews, and coordinate with marketing.

Liaise with the WRI Indonesia communication team for related products and events.

Research (20%)

Coordinate with the FLW Research and Data Integrity team on research and analysis to develop insights on water and mainstream WRI’s position.

Supervise junior staff on thematic map production, statistical analysis, and data visualizations.

Contribute to WRI Indonesia’s research activities on water topics.

Liaise with the RDI team for project research and knowledge products.

Fundraising / Grant Management (20%)

Lead development of the Water Security Sub‑Cluster fundraising strategy.

Support the FLW Director in strategy and proposal development for fundraising.

What You Will Need

Master’s degree in water resources management, environmental management, or sustainability.

Minimum 4 years of relevant full‑time experience.

Exceptional writing, communication, engagement, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and conceptual thinking.

Experience in an international team environment and ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑timezone setting.

Ability to build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple priorities.

Professional fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Contract Arrangement Full‑time with a fixed‑term agreement up to 31 December 2026; 3‑month consultancy prior to the fixed‑term employment.
