Get to Know the Role We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer, Backend to join our dynamic team in Jakarta, Indonesia. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of our backend systems, driving innovation and technical excellence across our organization. The role will be fully onsite. You will be reporting to the Head of Engineering. The Critical Tasks You Will Perform Architect and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems and services Lead the design and development of complex distributed systems and microservices Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement API strategies Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards Optimize database performance and design efficient data storage solutions Participate in technical decision-making processes and contribute to long-term technology roadmaps Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions

Qualifications What Essential Skills You Will Need Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead engineering role Advanced proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go Expertise in distributed systems and microservices architecture In-depth knowledge of database systems, including both SQL and NoSQL technologies Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) Strong skills in API design and development Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale, high-performance systems Solid understanding of software design patterns and principles Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication and leadership abilities Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
