Strategic Project Manager

Our client is a large mining conglomerate with subsidiaries in the US, Australia and Indonesia and they are looking for a Strategic PMO Manager to join the team. This position is a regional role reporting directly to the CEO and based in Jakarta. This role calls for an individual capable of managing cross-functional and cross-border projects on a board level focusing on key strategic areas such as mergers and acquisitions, ESG, finance excellence, HR and communications.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Development: Act as a thought partner to senior leaders, looking at areas key to the company's mission and strategic goals.

Innovation and Future-proofing: Contribute to technocommercial evaluations of tech innovations and solutions on board level, streamlining key processes in finance and human resources for example.

Investment Preparation: Facilitate readiness for external investment opportunities that support the group level goals. This would includes investments and acquisitions of global companies beyond those based in Indonesia.

Project Leadership: Oversee and manage a broad spectrum of projects and initiatives within the Group and its Portfolio Companies in the areas on ESG, sustainability, education for example.

Trend and Compliance Monitoring: Stay abreast of emerging trends, regulations, and best practices, ensuring the company remains compliant and proactive in addressing risks and opportunities.

Requirements

Background and Experience: 7-10 years experience in strategy consulting, venture capital, deal advisory or investment banking, plus commercial experience in corporate strategy ideally with a listed company with international operations.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a top university with an MBA preferred.

Technical skills: Financial modeling, due diligence and financial analysis experience in evaluating investments in projects or acquisitions.

Curiosity and Problem-solving: A proactive, curious mindset with a hands-on approach to tackling complex challenges, demonstrating exceptional problem-solving capabilities.

Communication and Influence: Outstanding communication abilities and the capacity to engage and influence stakeholders across various levels and functions without direct authority.

Project Management Excellence: Proven expertise in managing large-scale, complex projects with excellent analytical, organizational, and management skills.
