Senior FPGA Architect – Defense Systems Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced

Senior FPGA Architect

with strong background in

Defense, Aerospace, or Mission-Critical Systems . The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in FPGA-based system architecture, digital signal processing, high-speed communications, and hardware/software co-design for radar, tracking, SDR, EW, or missile systems. This role requires both strong technical leadership and hands-on RTL development capability, with experience in regulated and safety-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities Architecture & System Design

Define and lead FPGA-based hardware/software architectures for defense systems (radar, SDR, tracking, missile systems, EW, secure communications). Translate system-level and mission requirements into FPGA/SoC engineering specifications. Drive migration strategies from legacy analog/mixed systems to SDR or fully digital architectures. Define FPGA development flows, verification strategies, and best practices.

FPGA & RTL Development Design, implement, simulate, and verify RTL (VHDL/SystemVerilog). Develop high-performance DSP pipelines (filters, FFTs, beamforming, tracking algorithms). Implement high-speed serial interfaces (JESD204B/C, Gigabit Transceivers, Ethernet, PCIe). Work with Xilinx/AMD or Intel FPGA toolchains (Vivado, Vitis, Quartus, ModelSim, etc.). Integrate FPGA with embedded processors (ARM-based SoCs, Petalinux, FreeRTOS).

Defense & Mission-Critical Compliance Work within standards such as: DO-254 / DO-178 MIL-STD ISO 26262 (if applicable) Support documentation for certification and audits. Contribute to requirements management, risk analysis, and traceability. Lead hardware bring-up and FPGA-based prototype validation.

Required Qualifications 8+ years of FPGA development experience. 5+ years in Defense, Aerospace, or Military systems. Strong expertise in: RTL (VHDL/SystemVerilog) DSP implementation in FPGA High-speed networking (Ethernet, PTP, TSN, Infiniband, or similar) Embedded Linux (Petalinux/Yocto) Experience with radar signal processing, SDR, tracking systems, or high-performance computing architectures. Proven experience leading architecture definition and development teams. Strong understanding of full product lifecycle (requirements → validation → deployment). Fluent English (written and spoken).
