Head of Health Insurance Underwriting

Job responsibilities Evaluate and underwrite health insurance applications/quotations/proposals for individual products.

Assess risk exposure

Recommend terms and conditions for insurance coverage, including medical terms and conditions.

Ensure decisions are aligned with internal underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and profitability objectives.

Monitor performance of the health reinsurance portfolio and identify trends, opportunities, and areas of concern.

Contribute to refining underwriting guidelines, manuals, and best practices.

Maintain accurate documentation, underwriting notes, and decision logs.

Support the design and underwriting of new health insurance products, including medical underwriting conditions.

Stay abreast of market developments, regulatory changes, and emerging health risks.

Data Analysis & Reporting

Analyze claims experience, loss ratios, and other performance metrics.

Prepare underwriting reports and contribute to internal risk reviews.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, insurance, medicine or related field.

Underwriting experience in health insurance, with preference in medical underwriting, especially in Individual Underwriting and Group business.

Strong understanding of health insurance products, medical terminology, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory environments.

Strong analytical and risk assessment skills.

Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and data analytic tools.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.

Similar position in the last company with minimum 10 years of experience in Health Insurance Business.
