Program Overview

As a non-profit research institution, WRI Indonesia dedicates its contribution to the socioeconomic development of Indonesia in an inclusive and sustainable way. WRI Indonesia works in six main areas: forests, climate, energy, cities and transportation, governance, as well as ocean. WRI Indonesia aspires to support the achievement of Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals by implementing various activities under its two program clusters: 1. Food, Land, and Water Transforming Supply Chains and Livelihoods : Our mission is to drive the adoption of sustainable palm oil production practices at the national, regional, and global levels. We collaborate closely with government bodies, smallholders, and agriculture businesses, including palm oil, to ensure sustainable livelihoods and secure land tenure. Strengthening Forest and Peat Monitoring : We aim to enhance the monitoring capabilities of stakeholders, focusing on forests, peatlands, and landscapes. By leveraging scientific advancements, we aim to support forest management and conservation efforts effectively. We are dedicated to combating illegal forest logging and advocating for thorough reviews of palm oil business licenses. Innovating Financing for Nature-based Solutions : Our commitment lies in financing nature-based solutions (NbS) projects. Through strategic investments and partnerships, we strive to find the most effective financing mechanisms and tools that ensure the long-term sustainability of NbS programs. Advancing Sustainable Food Systems : Our primary objective is to expedite the transformation of food and land use systems. We actively support the reform agenda for food systems, fostering positive outcomes for the environment, health, inclusive development, and food security. We aim to align these systems with globally agreed-upon sustainable development, climate, and biodiversity goals. 2. Climate, Energy, Cities, and Ocean Climate : We are dedicated to advancing transformative solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation by assisting the Indonesian government in exceeding its climate commitments and successfully transitioning to low-carbon development. We engage with businesses and civil societies at local, national, and international levels to drive transformative solutions that combat climate change and enable communities to adapt to its impacts. Energy : We accelerate the transition towards a clean energy future through innovative solutions in clean energy governance and transparent market mechanisms that prioritize inclusivity and fairness. In addition, we convene stakeholders from national and sub-national governments, business sectors, and civil society to collaborate and achieve our shared goals. Cities : We provide technical assistance to policymakers and urban planners, empowering them to fortify the resilience of urban residents against climate change impacts and reduce road fatalities. Ocean : Our focus lies in supporting the government of Indonesia to reduce 70% of marine plastic debris by 2025. Additionally, we strive to mainstream blue carbon in Indonesia’s New Ocean Economy, promoting the importance of these ecosystems for sustainable development. To implement its activities under both clusters, WRI Indonesia continuously conducts active fundraising and resource mobilization program to ensure sustainability of its funding. Its current sources of funding are mainly from grants provided by philanthropist groups and donor countries, both through solicited and unsolicited process. However, with a new focus on ASEAN regional work and shifting in funders funding flow due to the US recent America First policy, fundraising effort need to be more innovative. Therefore, WRI Indonesia continues to broaden its sources and ways of resourcing of funding aiming to bring more significant impact for sustainable future of Indonesia. Job Highlight

The Strategic Fundraising Manager is expected to be creative in responding to the above-mentioned new focus which requires a fresh approach in proposing new organizational operations and programmatic development aspects to respond to fundraising needs for multi-years to the tune of 8 digits funding size. Apart from expected innovative endeavor, this position is needed to provide development managerial roles in business development to coordinate efforts to secure the financial resources and partnerships needed to advance the objectives and goals of the organization. This position will support and grow our current annual budget and advance WRI Indonesia’s most critical projects and relationships. The successful candidate will oversee prospect research, donor stewardship, proposal writing, and internal project framing and be directly responsible for all donor relations managed through the WRI Indonesia office. He/she will guide fundraising efforts with foundations, corporations, bilateral and multilateral donors, and high net worth individuals with a high degree of cross-organizational coordination with WRI’s Global office and other international offices. The Fundraising Innovation Manager will be an integral member of the Indonesia management team and of WRI’s global fundraising network. The Strategic Fundraising Manager will need to equip the team member to enable the unit to address the new focus and challenges that come with it. This position will work closely with the leadership team to drive sustainable growth and maximize the organization's impact. Reporting directly to the Country Director, post holder will be in close coordination with Managing Director, Program Director(s), and global office’s Director of International Corporate Relations. This position will be based in Jakarta with office-flex working arrangements and travel requirements as needed. What You Will Do

Develop and implement a fundraising strategy that consistently generates significant resources including commitment in the seven- and eight-figure range to support WRI Indonesia’s program priorities. Develop fresh and innovative approach by designing new organizational operations and programmatic development aspects to respond to fundraising needs for multi-years to the tune of 8 digits funding size. Identify and research potential major donors who have the capacity to contribute six- and seven-figure amounts to WRI Indonesia. Provide direct support and guidance to WRI Indonesia Director(s) and other Program Managers in cultivating donors, including engaging WRI Indonesia Board members, arranging influential meetings, leading meeting preparations, and reporting on donor interactions with a focus on strengthening relationship-building efforts. Actively participate in coordinating and contributing to the development of complex proposals involving multiple teams, with funding targets in the six and seven-figure range. Lead the development of concept notes, proposals, proposal budgets and other related materials as necessary to engage prospects and secure funding. Engage in direct fundraising activities, including proposal pitches, meetings, and donor cultivation efforts. Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors, foundations, government agencies, and corporate sponsors to secure funding for the organization’s projects and initiatives. Donor Stewardship and Internal Coordination(30%)

Coordinate, develop and maintain regular outreach and communications with current and prospective program donors and partners. Ensure appropriate and timely follow-up on donor requests. Participate in institutional efforts to enhance relationships with current donors. Establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with WRI staff around the world to collaborate on prospective strategies. Encourage use of and serve as point person for WRI Indonesia on Salesforce database in relation to fundraising activities. Lend expertise in development and delivery of training materials and presentations for WRI Indonesia staff on fundraising best practices, prospect research, proposal development and donor stewardship. Support annual and multi-year project planning efforts to ensure the development of aligned projects, compelling offers, and early engagement on fundraising priorities and opportunities. Serve as the point person for WRI Indonesia with the Global Development team. Liaise across peer organizations to identify opportunities, avoid conflicts, and seek best practice guidance. Project Management (20%)

Maintain and update WRI Indonesia’s fundraising pipeline of opportunities and proposals, and fundraising contacts and engagement in Salesforce database. Prepare grant proposals, manage grant applications, and ensure timely reporting and compliance with donor requirements. Collaborate with the communications team to develop organization prospectus materials, including brochures, presentations, and reports, to effectively communicate the organization’s mission, projects, and impact to donors, partners, and the public. Liaise across peer organizations to identify opportunities, avoid conflicts, and seek best practice guidance.
