Traffic Supervisor

Responsibilities

Plan and manage daily trucking activities for:

Disposal

inter-depot transfers

Coordinate with internal teams (Operations, Yard, Survey, Repair) to align transport availability with operational readiness.

Ensure trucking plans support FIFO and longstanding reduction.

Manage relationships with trucking vendors and leased fleet.

Allocate trips between vendors, leased trucks, and internal resources.

Monitor vendor performance, availability, and compliance with agreed SLAs.

Support vendor rate negotiation and cost control initiatives.

Operational Execution

Ensure timely dispatch and return of trucks.

Monitor real-time traffic conditions and terminal congestion.

Handle ad-hoc changes, delays, and escalation during operations.

Ensure compliance with safety, security, and terminal regulations.

Control transportation costs and prevent unplanned overtime or premium charges.

Monitor transport cost per trip and per container.

Validate transport invoices and trip records before submission.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Track and report KPIs including:

Analyze performance trends and propose improvement actions.

SOP & Process Improvement

Develop, implement, and continuously improve transport SOPs.

Align transport processes with depot capacity and customer requirements.

Support CAPA related to audits or customer findings involving transportation.

Stakeholder Communication

Coordinate closely with:

Terminal operators

Vendors and drivers

Provide timely updates on transport constraints, risks, and mitigation plans.

Job Requirements Education

Minimum Diploma (D3) in Logistics, Transportation, Engineering, or related field.

Bachelor’s degree is an advantage.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years experience in transport, trucking, or depot/terminal operations.

Experience managing trucking vendors and daily dispatch operations is mandatory.

Prior experience in container depot or terminal operations is highly preferred.

Technical Knowledge

Strong understanding of:

Trucking and transport planning

FIFO and evacuation processes

Familiar with transport documentation and depot systems (DMS, TMS).

Strong coordination and multitasking skills.

Analytical mindset with cost and productivity focus.

Good negotiation and vendor management skills.

Effective communication and escalation handling.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and operational reporting tools.

Behavioral Requirements

Able to work under pressure and manage peak traffic conditions.

High sense of ownership and accountability.

Willing to work in shifts and extended hours if required.

Safety-conscious and compliance-oriented.
